Twenty-four 50 seat upgrades just posted on the final awards... Are we still losing like 20 a month or whatever it is? Where's everybody going lately?

Glad to see the upgrades - keep 'em coming!

I've heard a lot of relatively senior FO's are leaving and that several are getting out of the aviation racket all together, but who knows. I've flown with several guys the last 1/2 year or so that are going to Southwest or Airtran.

Good news!

Well I haven't seen that. I think it is a combination of junior CPT's and hopefully plans for growth. We will see.

Its almost all for growth. We gotta fill all those 90 (with first class) seaters coming for the summer.

Southwest, Continental, FedEx, Airtran

yep, 10ish last month and 24ish this month. And I still am not any closer. All the "senior" F/Os who have been waiting seem to be moving over now.

No $hit, I've been within 10 numbers for like 6 months...

Yep! That is exactly what I am saying. I went from mid 40's to high 30's on the ATL CRJ FO side over the last year and the CPT side I have been approx the same number for the last 8 months (in the relief line area). Hopefully I will move up 20 or so with this last group. I don't see the great movement to the majors that were indicated above. Sorry, just me!:crying:

I feel your pain brotha. However, 24 upgrades is the most I think I've ever seen in 5 years so hopefully things will get a move on...

Preliminary award just came out today 3/23: 2 ATR CAs, 2 CRJ CAs, and 2 CR7 FOs. Hopefully there will be more CA positions awarded on the Final. My question is why the hell are these two F/Os bidding to the CR7? Have they not looked at the lines or the QOL; not to mention flying with some of the crustiest, ornery Captains at ASA? Whatever, each to his own.

Remember the good ol' days?

This morning I was digging through some paperwork and found a "Final Awards" list for 4/1/01 - it had 191 names on it for upgrades! Those were the days.

Yea, there probably havent been 191 upgrades in the past two years! As far as the 700, I'm with you on that. I'm close to bidding SLC to try to get back on the 200! I'd go from 11 days off, barely holding a line....to 3 on 4 off with all weekends. Not to mention there is never any open time to pick up or swap with, unless you like naps. The 700 in ATL SUCKS!!! Why would anyone bid it? I had a newhire on the JS the other day that is on the 700! Is he crazy!!!!

Snapperhead,

Some people feel they'll be better able to please the ladies/men/small boys based on the size A/C they're on. Or that they'll get more respect/prestige/etc... Little do they know that stuff is all untrue. At the end of the day you're still the same size and the only real difference is while you're buddies are holding good schedules on smaller A/C, you're going right back on 6am reserve and you'll only be making guarantee. (Heading to SLC is the exception to this meatheaded decision. Getting out of ATL is always a good thing!) The sad part is some of them don't get it until it's too late and then they're stuck.
It's like the judge says: "The world needs ditch diggers too."

OH SNAP, that was funny. Yeah, if you do get them they will have 70 total seats, and they will eventually pay like 50 seaters (Thanks JA). I wonder if those 90 seat hulls will have lie-down sleeper seats in them, to take up the extra space? That would be wonderful. I could non-rev and get a nap on the way to Valdosta. It would be a quick nap, but I am sure there are some super rich peanut farmers out there wanting to take a 25 minute nap all the way from ATL to Valdosta. Awesome.

General,

You never did answer my question...I will post it again here. I am just curious as to what your response is.

General,

I think it is unfortunate that we are all in this position. ASA is being backed into a corner just like Delta...although I willfully admit that you are in a much worse position than we are, seeing as how if mgmt gets what they want from you, it will be 45% cuts since 2002...terrible no doubt.

Mgmt is asking us for a cut too, not because skywest can't afford to pay us (over 80mil in profit for the 4th qtr 2005 alone), but because they don't have to as long as Skywest pilots will do it for less than us...lets face it, all other things being equal they are cheaper on the 70.

Getting back to what i was going to say....Do you really think that the bankruptcy courts will allow a strike? I mean, if it goes to that, the company is not going to take it to that point without knowing that it would be stopped. Furthermore, how many pilots, if the strike is haulted, would be willing to outright walk? I don't think that many considering all they would stand to lose. Just a thought, but i don't think that you guys have as much power as you think that you do, just like we don't have that much power either.

movin on up

All that I can say is that many of my friends are getting pretty crusty as FO's and a few Captains that would like to move up the ladder before jumping ship. Classes are finally goin again and things will move for the better. See yall on 4/24!

Don't try that. There are about 5 SLC F/O's that tried to bid back to the 200 on the last bid and didn't get it. They do not have to let you downgrade from the 700 to the 200 even if you are changing domiciles.

BCpilot81,

Going by your posted times and aircraft I assume you are in the pool? Have they called you about an April 24th class? Just curious, I have been in the pool since November and looking for word from anyone who has been called recently.

Yes... I want to know also.

What is with the CR7 FO's? The lines aren't good. No opentime. Yet when upgrade comes around none of them leave for captain. My new flight info compilation of letters RSLS... Right Seat Lifer Syndrome

Don't you get it? There are pilots at Delta with nearly zero PIC time. When Delta takes the eternal dirt nap these guys are going to have to start at the bottom unless they can steal an RJ Captain slot through jets for jobs, or some other plan that has Delta operating the airplanes with their seniority list. General is very interested in upgrades at ASA, he considers those his Captain slots unde the theory that all flying is Delta's.

What are you talking about everyone on this board has a side job that brings in 150K a year. Flying is just something they do because masterbation has lost its fun. STRIKE NOW. BURN IT DOWN.

Don't you ever get tired of blaming the yours & the industry's problems on the DL pilot group??
Shouldn't you be out gathering more money from your group of bandits so you can give it to your lawyer!?

I know what you mean. I suppose those that can upgrade are waiting for a new contract, hoping that the reserve rules will change for the better. Some are just wanting QOL and will probably stay at ASA forever (even though the lines now suck). Never turn down an upgrade is what I've heard from the get-go. Get your 1000 hrs PIC and get out!

It's more like 15, but who's counting.
