While I'm okay with unstacking for its intended purpose, I have a much bigger problem with the company trying to use unstacking in a non-holiday month to deal with poor staffing decisions (as they wanted to do in June). I also have a big problem with the reserve percentage continuing to creep upward with the union's blessing.

I agree. Junior guys get to work the holidays. That's the way it is. The issue is that the company WILL try and use this every month. Mgmt hasn't negotiated in good faith or operated in good faith for DECADES, and suddenly some guys are happy with PBS cause they got off reserve?

It's like the Stockholm syndrome.

Clearly you didn't pay enough attention when LOA 11 was up for a vote. I don't know how you voted, but there are quite a few pilots who voted "yes" without reading the fine print. Personally, I was okay with the unstacking language for the most part. Someone has to work the holidays. However, I'm surprised at how many pilots are expressing outrage as if the unstacking language hasn't been there all along.

The problem is that we are better staffed, from a pilot per aircraft basis, than we have ever been. Remember when we had so many pilots that all reserves sat around all the time? We had around the number of pilots per aircraft we have now. So why are we having open time issues on weekends? It has something to do with the PBS language. I don't profess to know what that something is.

I don't think unstacking is a big deal. It allows for the bottom 30% to fly weekends, which is exactly what line bidding does. I think the point is all moot anyway since XJT doesn't want it, and since it is screwing up the staffing model they may just get their wish.

People had blinders on looking at PBS while ignoring the crap LOA that controls it.

Zero basis for hoping that...we aren't even adequately staffed for a September drawdown, much less summertime increase and covering Comair/Pinnacle flights. Enjoy the extra hours.

Yup, esp when they turn all the XJT IAD flying back over to them in the fall. (Total rumor here but...this is FI).

First week on the job????

You should know by now they can pretty much do what ever the FU!K they want to with us.....Great Union we have

Then you have an out. Dont support it in the JCBA! You guys at ASA really need to educate yourselves on what we do at XJT... it is NOT the bidding system you guys had prior to PBS. Were doing our part now you do yours.

There were xe pilots doing paper bids in IAD the other day. We haven't done that in years. The PBS at ASA is the best way to bid, period. But unless the company gets it In arbitration, I wouldn't get too comfy with it. Xe pilots aren't for it and the company's typical under-handed ways have doomed it.

Paper bids??? I don't think ASA has had that for 10 years? Do XJT guys not even bid on computer with some sort of sorting function?

It is all done online. They printed out the bid packet PDF file to look through the lines.

What cybourg10 said.

And yes, we have a sort function with a literal sh1t ton of parameters that can be plugged in to narrow down the lines. And when that's done, you can then go in and edit it before it bids for you.

And just like the ASA PBS software, you can even set up a standing bid, just in case you forget, you're on vacation with no internet access, etc.

In the words of Cee Lo Green, "aint that some sh1t, ain't that some sh1t......"

I know you don't care, but as a 9 year CA in ATL, bottom 350 out of 400, I get weekend days off. Even complete weekends off. I get to fly through cities that I like (MEM). I get long over nights, I get no more than 5 legs on any day and no more than 3 on my last day. All with this horrible PBS stuff. There are still plenty of trips to trade if I don't like what I got, which I have also done. If you have ANY seniority you should be able to kill with this stuff.

Actually, the point of what you quoted was to dispel the myth that XJT still "paper bids". I mean, really? Do some people believe that? As well as to answer about the sorting system.

As far as the bolded part goes. That's the beauty of the XJT line bid ILIW/SLIW system. Even WITHOUT any seniority, you can "kill with this stuff".

Unstacking isn't a factor.

It's OK, I know you don't care.

Yep and we have software that lets you sort the bid packet in any number of ways. IE show time, release time, block time, days on, days off, how many days off in a row, desired and avoid overnights, tafb, type of trips so on and so on and so on. Were not in the stone age guys, we do line bidding with a pdf bid packet and software to sort the pack. Its actually really really nice.

Yep you have every opportunity to change your schedule and get what you need! It works most of the time as there is a massive amount of open time to work with (usually). Our bidding system is SUPERIOR to any PBS system period.

So do you think that only the top 5 pilots per seat here get that stuff. You need to educate yourself man. Im in the bottom half of FOs, get weekends off, as well as 16-18 days off a month. Come on man, you guys act like PBS is a lost relic of Jesus Christ himself!
