blzr,

oh man, you are dead on about the FA. we did some "fire training" and there was a class of FAs there at the same time....about 5 or 6 of them were age 55+, 2 were huge, 2 were gay looking guys.

what happened to this industry?
It didn't take you long to fully asses the ASA FA situation.

Uhhh.... yeah.... don't [modify the hat's foam ring] - you think the hat's ugly NOW, sheesh! Do that and you'll look like the conductor from "Polar Express!"
If you want to look like a Soviet general at a May Day parade, listen to RJFlyer. (You'll also be able to do Oddjob's trick from Goldfinger...)

Trust me: the cut-and-splice works...and you don't look like a French chef afterwards.

Just got my uniforms today....oh my god, do you guys realize how UGLY the hat is? I know, I know - "I bet you didn't say you didn't want to wear a hat during the interview."

If I have to wear an ugly hat to fly that jet, I will wear an ugly hat. But I just thought someone should tell someone at ASA that they are ugly.

Are they really that strict on wearing them?
True that! :)

ATL is not that strict on wearing it. Just wear it thru IOE and then pitch the
thing in your car. Every now and then you'll get an anal guy that LOVES the hat. The chances are slim, especially on the 50. If you're on the 70, it's a
little different. Don't even get me started on the SLC CPs!

Welcome to the fun that is ASA?!?

Junior, just put on your god**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** hat and do the walkaround. No one here can help it that you have a tiny neck and wearing the hat makes you look like an AWACS plane.

Oh yeah, just teasing.... :D

Too bad you won't fly in DFW. No one wears that hat here and in fact, the chief pilot gets mad if you wear that hat inside.

(This is called "Setting the New Guy Up for Failure." :D )

LMAO!

Being Christmas and all,.... Wear your hat at DFW and AUS. I was joking about the uniforms. The chief pilot's most obvious focus is uniforms specifically hats and nametags. He'll "correct" you on the spot.
Merry Christmas

Should have come to ExpressJet (COEX)

If you notice any COEX pilots not wearing a hat it's because we are not required to wear the ugly thing anymore!

Someone finally decided enough with these hats!! (Although rumor has it they are going to bring the hat back down the road...hopefully NOT!).

This reminds me....

I have a practically new FO Hat (Bancroft 7 3/8) and Blazer (50L) that I no longer need. Both run a little small (no, really!). Will part with them very cheap for a needy ASA newhire. PM for details if you're interested.
