Word is that ASA loses 2 sims in August and between 12 and 20 Instructors are getting furloughed from the training department.

Anyone else have more details?

ASA does not own the Sims, and yes guys are getting laid off from the training dept.

We don't own the airplanes either, but we consider these leases "ours."

Ok that was apples to oranges, Flight safety owns the sims, ASA buys time in the Sims. ASA LEASES airplanes, and actually ASA owns about 50 percent of the fleet. Anyone can buy time in the Sims, No one can buy time in the airframes. ASA has no right to the sims other than the times in the sims that they purchase, and some times sell back to flightsafety

Yeah they didn't buy time in the airframes... they took the airframes. Now the are "buying" the sim time.

I think we can all see where this is going. What is the latest on SKYW hiring... I heard 70 a month. Can anyone confirm that?

For those playing at home looks like a nice replacement staff is forming. You won't get the option of shutting the place down. We are being replaced.

Hey guys,

It's obvious this may be the start of the end. The first transfer of assets.

We can sit here and watch our flying go to Skywest or whomever.

Or we can make it painfully expensive for the company to do so.

Or we can take a paycut and then wait for the next whipsaw.

Crappy choices if you ask me.

Not that this is new news or anything, but I was in Hot Springs a few days ago to pick up an aircraft. The mechs over there said next month they'll start getting the ASA 700s to reconfig for Skywest.

There is one other choice - a contract with effective scope language.

Perhaps one list should be the #1 item being negotiated. SkyWest can still keep two companies, with management close to where the rubber meets the road, as Jerry likes to say. We can have one seniority list. Problem solved.

This is coming from a supporter of a group who is trying to abolish scope as we know it!

And how prey tell do you "blend" the seniority lists?? Everyone is always going to think he/she is getting screwed!

SkyWest Airlines will be sending instructors and students to ATL for probably the rest of the year at various times due to lack of sim time in SLC. Classes of 70 for RJ initial will be held every 3 weeks until March of next year. I'm not sure of the exact number of new hires planned before the end of the year but I'm certain it exceeds 250. I know of least 2, if not more, of the students in new hire right now are from ASA. I have heard of some talk from management that they may consider 2nd year pay for those coming from ASA and or imediate insurance coverage, but it's just that, talk. I myself, would be suprised if it happens unless there is no way they can fill classes. The only other thing I have heard is that it still isn't concrete about ASA doing the flying out of LAX, and a SkyWest base in ATL is being considered.

Sorry, about the situation, and I am aware that some of this is bad news.

Thanks, I will takes that as a compliment. "Scope as we know it" has resulted in a race for the bottom which ASA is losing by trying to keep some semblance of "profession" in professional.

Seniority integration, always a mess, but better than the alternative. Paychecks, equipment type, seat, longevity - whatever is least disruptive and avoids excessive windfalls, or losses.

Don't worry, you will get what you want.

At this point I would take the staple. Skywest is going to pad lock this airline and we will all be on the street. We have a chance if we went on strike tomorrow but we are still 6 months out easy.... in 6 months it will be a lock out not a strike.

A few months ago i suggested that your number one priority should be a single carrier petition and I was told I didn't know what I was talking about. Are you guys starting to get it now?

As have I. You can lead a horse to water...........................

AF

Say it was our number one priority. I'm sure that would have changed everything. I was the one saying we should get the SKYW contract but everyone told me I was management... Just trying to make the merger easier.

Management offered deal last week that included:
-50/ATR payraise
-No paycut for 700
-$1.55 perdiem increasing $1.60
-2:1 duty rigs
-SKYW training pilot section
-401k improvements
-PBS

ALPA still said NO.
This is coming from a voting member of the MEC

Probably because they had pref bid in there. If thats the deal, I'd go with it along with pref bid. (pref bid ain't a good thing!)

If it's PBS by AOS, run don't walk. It results in a major cut in pay!!!!!!!

Probably not going to get a better offer than that, if it is infact true.

I too would be suprised if this was in fact offered.

Why do you use the term furlough?! That makes it sound much worse than it is. The truth is they are sending Training pilots back to the line since we aren't hiring right now. What they want (this is my opinion anyway) is for everything to be done by outside non seniority pilots (eventually). As for the sims...haven't heard that but those sims are leased by ASA, not owned...Skywest is hiring and they probably need the sim time..

AS for the moron that refered to this as a "transfer of assets"...get a life!!

There has been no tranfer of assets yet...only threats of tranfering aircraft...most of which, to my knowledge, we lease, not own. Everyone just relax and be patient...let the MEC do there job...let the CNC do there job...once the contract is settled, things will level out!

If not, and you are still unhappy or things get worse, then leave..I will!

What voting member of the MEC is going to talk to you!!

You make it a point to bash ALPA with every post you put on here so I am certain that you are not a public supporter of the MEC!! I still think, as do many people on this board, that you are MGMT.

I don't believe this offer you are talking about...but if it is true, then there is a good reason why the MEC/CNC has turned it down. (period)

Mngt. Tactic

Guys/gals-

This is a management tactic to bypass your MEC and CNC and negotiate directly with the pilot group. Don't fall for it. Stick tight, listen the your P2P, CNC and MEC (eieio). Now's not the time to get divided.

Good luck.

I talked to Cnc Guys in crew lounge today. Alot of these things were offered but were tied to Pref Bid and Cnc says polling shows majority of pilots dont want that so no deal.

I don't know but about half the people I talk to that have Pref Bid like it. Maybe it's something we really should consider, before the ship sinks completely?

I had an IP on my jumpseat the other morning and he said that they wanted to lay off 14 or so IP's, but they wanted to do it out of seniority. They wanted to get rid of the guys that are not multiple qualified to do as many checks and such. He said it about came to blows between managment and a few IP's. They were pissed to say the least.

The problem with PBS is that the entire scheduling section of the new contract was written for straight lines. If we adopted PBS, we'd either need to gut all of section 13 or rewrite it. It's all a ploy to get us to renegotiate section 13, really.

Clock is ticking.... Why don't we crack open 13 again... Then SKYW can take a more relaxed pace on training our replacements. We need to get to the 30 day cooling off in a hurry.
