I too am wondering where the "half sized" information came from. I will try to verify today with some recruiting friends of mine.

My favorite are the rats that scurry in the walls and ceilings. You'll know it when you hear the scratching above you and behind your head.

Ahhh, the RR days. I think I lived about 3 mnths of my life in that rat hole.

is it single or double occupancy during training?

single unless you can pick up some hollaback girls across the street.

I heard directly from Pilot Recruiting about the classes being halfed in size. They just got the memo. But i DID get into the May 8th class..found out this morning....glad i dont have to wait until 22nd.

Hey does the RR have wireless internet by any chance? Would like to give updates on here about how many times i had to bust out my Nine and how many rats i have trapped throughout my stay there...haha

Question from the guy who knows little. I recently did the phone interview and then was sent an official application. Are these guys still hiring for immediate positions or will I be sent into the dreaded pool? The lady I spoke to told me to expect an interview 2 weeks from last Monday. Yet I still hear rumors that no hiring is going on at this time. Am I isht out of luck for now or are they filling "reserve lines?"

The RR is a T-Mobile hotspot, so you have to pay for access. There is an ethernet port in the room, but I haven't gotten a cable yet to see if it works,

Yes, the RR sucks... I still cringe when I have to drive near the place. My buddy had the cops do a drug bust in the room across from him one night, one of the guards was spotted smoking weed, and I think two people had their cars broken into.

My words of advice.... Request a room with a desk, fridge, and microwave. They put a majority of people in the crappy two bed, small desk rooms. I was put in one when I first checked in, but I kept bugging them for another room. They finally gave me a room with all the good stuff (including rats in the walls) after a couple of days..... it makes a huge difference. I also had my laptop that I plugged in for internet access and it worked fine.

Have fun in training, and remember to get a check up after visiting Spondivits and/or B-52's.

And for the dinner on the cheap B52 has 35cent wings on Thursdays. And $6 steak nite on I think Tuesdays. I wouldn't bother driving out with gas prices. Just rent you a car on the weekend to get out to get your grocerys and see the sights. Enterprise usually gives a good rate to us.

Just heard some news.....the May classes have all been halfed in size. I may not be in the 8th class and will be put in the 22nd class. grrr Another test on my patience. Can't wait to get there. Like givin a kid a toy and then taken it away. Guess thats the industry now.

Welcome to ASA! That's just a glimpse of how you'll be treated when you get here! Get used to being jerked around.

I don't think this applies to initial training but I'm no expert on our contract.

Training is training. That's all that matters. It worked for me 4 years ago. Why give these people money????? Doesn't make sence to me. It's in the contract, claim it.

It "pays" to know the contract. You'd be surprised how many people don't claim full lost block for a PROCHECK like the contract allows. Most only claim 4 hours for the sim.

Read it and smile.

You sound like you believe that ASA is the only regional that makes life a sh1t sandwich. THEY ARE ALL LIKE THAT!!!!! At least your company hasn't started another splinter and given the flying to guys off the street.

Do you really believe that ASA is the only airline I've ever worked for? Of course I know that!

My point is that ASA has no respect for its workers and constantly jerks us around... just like the other guy described. In fact, back when I was hired, they did the same thing to me, but my class was cancelled two days before it was scheduled to start and a lot of people in it had already quit their jobs! Then they called and reinstated it... two weeks later.

I know there are worse out there... I've worked for them, but at least most treat their workers with some level of respect as the ones who make them the money. From the newest ramper to the most senior pilot, ASA has no respect for its workers, feels we should immediatly drop our lives and cater to their whims, and in general reminds us all that we are easily replaced. Ask anyone who's been here long enough to remember the cookies for a christmas bonus. Yeah, two stale cookies wrapped up in $5 worth of company propaganda. Even Sha-Ka-Ka got cash bonuses that year. Comair got hams and turkeys. We got propaganda. Merry Christmas.

I think those cookies were laced with ex-lax...thats how I got my screen name. And there you have it!

Guys, ease up on the RR! I'd rather be at the RR where I could have my OWN room and walk to tranining everyday than have to stay somewhere further away and have to wake up earlier to worry about catchin some shuttle bus to the academy. Try going to training at Eagle. Its DOUBLE....yes I said DOUBLE occupancy rooms for the first 5 weeks of training! In addition to that, you stay at a hotel that is 15 mins away from the academy, have to take a shuttle to class everyday, and there is only a Subway to eat. Be happy with the RR my friends....there is much worse out there. At least there are restaurants in the parking lot!

Kerveball,

The Red Roof SUCKS! ASA should not put our new hires in the RR it is a hole!

ASA managment just doesn't get the fact that "I WORK to LIVE, not LIVE to WORK".

I didnt have an issue with the RR either. I actually thought it was not bad at all. Our overnights have worse places than that!

Ask the new hire Flight Attendants where they stay. Embassy Suites and Doubletree.
