Acording to Drew we will save $300,000.00 by not using the Logo lights. If they really want to save money, merge ASA and Comair.

The New Chairman of Kmart knows how to save money.
"Eddie Lampert aims to squeeze out an additional $500 million in savings by combining Kmart and Sears, in which he already owned a 15 percent stake. Analysts speculate that the renamed Sears Holdings Corp. will be cruising for more acquisitions, à la Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway".(source AJC)

I guess we wouldn't save any money by merging.

Wouldn't it be easier to just put in a resume at Comair?

What a joke! The only 'free' advertisement we have, and let's not get into the safety aspect of this new STUPID procedure.
It's only free advertisment on about a third of our fleet that still has ASA on the tail. Sadly, the wavy gravy scheme has no real identification to Delta on the tail... the least they could have done was put a widget back there.

Heck get

Kmart and Sears to buy ASA and advertise on the airplanes! I can see it now,

Craftsmen tools.........Die Hard Battery.....Martha Stewart Clothing.....

Geezzz! Who cares if the company defers the logo lights! Has nothing to do with safety as you still have all those other lights to burn. We have more important things to worry about than the friggin' logo lights! Management must be laughing their arses off at the few of you who are 'upset' about the logo lights. Man, get over it!

I don't think any of us are hardly 'upset', it is however imho a dumn idea. And I would definitely argue that logo lights don't enhance safety. Heck, why have two landing lights, you only need one of them, that'll save another $150,000. Nav lights, only need one of 'em, we'll just carry an extra bulb with us on the plane, should one Nav light burn out, we'll replace it, free of charge. Not a problem. Get the drift?

As mentioned previously, if we really wanted to save money, there are plenty of other ways of doing so. 'Supposedly' we pay up to a half mil annually to our awesome corporate lodging, whereas Comair uses two pilots for doing the exact same thing for I am sure not close to the same amount........

However, I guess we must somehow justify and pay for this thanksgiving feast to all ASA members. Hey allright, no more logo lights = thanksgiving dinner. Hmmmm

wait till they find out how much money they will save if they remove the fms. back to VOR (that's a navigation aide for those that have been flying glass for too long) and NDB's. That would save TRILLIONS.

WOW, I think I just solved the conundrum of the millenium.

Wow! Thanks for the reference. That figure seems rather high for maintaining, replacing and stocking light bulbs.

I had MTC on board the other day taking the logo light out of service. I asked him if he thought it was that big of an expense. He said the lights are a real pain and burn out quite a bit. He was not sure of the cost, but did know that the bulbs on the yoke clip are $6.00 each.

That must mean the logo light is about $300 clams......
