If the reason for the fatigue was the company's fault, you are paid normally. In any case, fill out a fatigue form.

I'm not sure about the docking of pay.

I thought that as well, but a certain chief pilot doesn't always agree. (No matter how stupid scheduling gets.)

Fill out the form, then file a grievance.

If the reason is your own fault or not and you have flown or been available enough to credit 3.95 or whatever the dock is, fill out a RIF, a NASA, a fatigue form, a grievance form and an ASAP. And pen a certified letter to the FSDO documenting the use of financial blackmail by the company.

I'm writing it in crayon! I shall also illustrate with drawings.

Yeah, and when you get done...stop by and fill out your unemployment paperwork.

I think it would be a suicide mission.

Then quit yer whining if you aren't willing to fight the fight.

buscap, not saying I disagree with you. Prob does need to be done. BUT you had better be prepared for the consequences.

What did the FAA say when YOU talked to them?????

I do agree with you....I just haven't made a fatigue call. So much easier to call in sick!

Heck no, I haven't done it. It has not been necessary, but my intention is to do so if they come after my money. I don't mind carpet dances. I don't mind disciplinary letters. But they aren't gonna touch my money for flying I have already done.

They have, and they will.

Fatigue policy needs change, as well as sick policy. Something that mirrors more what Skywest has. Which is ironic since they are the non-union carrier.

How in the name of General Lee can the company dock your pay for FLYING THAT YOU DID!!!!???? What say you, Union MEC?

Nah, we need better than what SKYW has...It's not that great. I think we can do better.

You will never face discipline for calling in fatigued at ASA. You do open yourself up to discipline when calling in sick when you really are not sick. (I get that it's difficult to prove that you weren't sick and that the financial pressures of the current policy are bogus.)

Proration needs to go away as well as the financial pressure for fatigue calls.

Realistically, however, there will be pilots who choose to abuse any fatigue/sick policy that might be created, therefore screwing the guys who are genuinely fatigued and/or sick.

Genuine, sincere, inflammable question: Does anyone have any suggestions for a policy that encourages responsible use of fatigue/sick calls yet is fair to the pilot group?

How about for starters, you all adopt our fatigue/sick call policy? Either occurrence is paid out of your sick bank. A fatigue call requires filing an ASAP report, that's it. You're allowed 3 "unexcused" sick calls in a rolling 12 month period. If you want them excused, just turn in a doctor's note to your Chief and voila! Works great.

I thought it was 4 unexcused sick calls?

Nope. It has always been 3 in a rolling 12 month period. The 4th gets you a CP letter inquiring about your health. The 5th is a meeting with the CP. The 6th, well, we don't talk about the 6th.
