Just some rumor coming out of recurrent that they are going to start EFB on the Crj-700 at the end of Feb. I guess Skywest has the correct paperwork to use it and we can grandfather in underthem. Has anyone else been hit by this rumor yet?

End of Febuary 2007, and I might believe it. The only grandfathering might be with whatever company is selling these things. Believe me, it won't be the FAA(who needs to approve it). We are two different operators, with two different certificates. Plus the aircraft will need to be wired up to charge this things and a place to mount it. Getting all that done in a month, doubtful. Don't forget, last year we were suppose to get pocket pc's to do the weight and balance. Yeah right.

Here's a quote from my ASA indoc in 1998: "The budget has been approved, ACARS is coming."

SkyWest has been talking about going paperless for a couple of years now, and the Chief Pilot in his occasional updates has even listed it as one of his top priorities (something about us having one of the highest rates of paperwork errors rushing to get the door closed on time, and thus incurring large fines thanks to the FAA), but I haven't seen or heard anything in a while.

Sure would be nice though...

You think errors are being made now? Try switching from Jepps to NOS! Try all those fun approaches into BTM, HLN, etc.:)

I'll have to go with 180 on this. I'll believe it when I see it. But stranger things have happened.
