Anyone know how it went? Did Jerry Show? Did they get arrested, lol?

:DAccording to guys that were there, it went GREAT!! JA even came out and talked to DW! Of course JA was talking out the side of his mouth..."we want to get these issue's done ASAP!" What a Snake in the Grass! Would probably sell his own mother if it would keep unions off his property!

I think Jerry was probably doing his damdest to keep from busting up laughing while looking at the white shirts wandering up and down the sidewalk in front his building on an out of the way road in an little retirement town in the middle of the desert.

Except that the media coverage makes him look like an ass and alerts his already jittery shareholders of the looming labor crisis at ASA. It says something that our pilots are mad enough to find their way to your "little retirement town in the middle of the desert" just to flip Jerry off.

Except the local media in the STATE made the Pilots out to be arrogant and Jerry just trying to get the job done...

I know y'all believe that the Utah Mafia has the Utah borders blocked off from the rest of the world, but I'm pretty sure the audience wasn't meant to be in your state. I bet the purpose was to show how backwards and helpless your "powerful ceo" really is when the outside world comes knocking. Y'all in Utah may have thought Jerry won, but I'm here to tell you, the rest of the world thinks he looked like an ass. And it seems to have been picked up by the AP and other NBC affiliates.

Pennekamp- what are you smokin? The media RARELY sides with unions. As pro union as I am I can still see that. We're always portrayed as greedy.....just how it is and not saying it's right.

I'm a little confused. How can you blame JA for what is going on at ASA. I believe it is the union and ASA management that can't seem to get their contract squared away.

How does JA come into this?

oh...Tomct I noticed on another thred you tore someone up because they mentioned that th 75 and 76 rates are the same at the majority of the airlines because they get paid more. Why don't you ask those pilots what they think about their payrates. I'm sure they will say it is rediculous as well. We fly 50, 66, and 70 RJs...I agree they are bigger aircraft...but tey do have a point...common type same pay rate.

I'm not too internet saavy- can someone show me a link to the "national" coverage of this I cant find it anywhere- and please dont link the alpa site- I know they covered it.

I just think it was more of a flop than the union wants it to be... If you can only have 25-30 people picket- why not organize and have 20-30 picket at some airports served by asa and get some real attention? (ohhh its alpa- they just want Skywest money... they dont care about ASA... If they did-they would have picketed Delta when Delta owned them- i answered my own question..)

No offense to ASA guys i feel bad for you- but Skywest Inc. bought you- delta didnt want you. you are still flying because of Skywest Inc.

alpa DOESNT REPRESENT REGIONAL PILOTS INTERESTS!!!

I guess being 'backwards and helpless' helped Jerry take a bankrupt airline that the owners couldn't give away and turn it into the industry leading company that it is today. that or 30 plus years of 'luck,' right?

...but I guess you knew that already.

Wrong on your assessment-

Delta needed a loan for bankruptcy and they used ASA as collateral. Don't forget, they still have the option to buy us back after 4 years (not that they will). In addition to that, we are tied to them at the hip with a 14 year Delta Connection Agreement- pending that we fall in line with a specific cost structure following our new contract. (Which our MEC will blow and make sure we don't make). But hey, it's O.K. because I've been told that other carriers will not bid on our flying in order to avoid a whipsaw-...........Riiiiiiiiight.......

Exactly!!! but youve got alpa representing you!!!

ASA did picket the Delta shareholder's meeting over a year ago. It was the best turnout of pilots that we had.... I think close to 200 showed.

If you're referring to SKYW, the "owners" that couldn't give away the bankrupt airline were already the Atkin family...might wanna put out the whole truth and not just propaganda that suits your one-sided tirade against unions.

Your gonna have to elaborate and go farther than that in your point- sorry....just finished up 4 day trip....brain no worky so good.........

I was referring to your (....... ) statements

Look- I support ALPA and ALPA has done great things and served a more broad purpose than negotiating salaries. Political agenda's such as stopping the push by our government to allow cabotage, open skies, and foreign control of airlines are all things that need to be stopped. ALPA has been a leader in that. Safety is another massive advantage that ALPA has going for it- it's a pain in the @$$ to the FAA (I love anything that pi$$es of the FAA) and it rags the NTSB to keep them from labelling every disaster as pilot error....HOWEVER.........

Yes, when it comes to regional airlines I think we (the regionals) need to look out for ourselves. We are represented out of necessity, and not out of generosity. Our pay goes up, our demand for service goes down (as economic feasability dwindles), thus the majors grow, and the bigger paying jobs come back. But the bigger paying jobs won't go to the regional guy that just bled for the betterment of the industry, but rather to the fighter jock that was a squadron bud of the Delta 7-6 captain..........

:rolleyes:Okay big, lets look at this a bit differently. IF they were making money, their payrates would be QUITE different, however, since they are making marginal profits at best....they adjusted their payrates to help the company for NOW...when the red turns to BLACK, you can BET your @SS that they will take those payrates right back to where they belong. Now take our "regional" side of the coin....we have been making money hand over fist FOREVER!!!!! The economic slowdown has not hurt us one bit! We have been making HUGE profits from day one and we MUST raise the bar! It's just that simple.;)

And which airline are you speaking of?

ASA was never bankrupt, DAL was not DCI. Yeah we would have been folded into it as well but ASA was always self sustaining. DAL sold us for the cash not cause they couldn't give us away. ASA was the most viable subsidiary to sell at the time. Why do you think Jerry bought us? Dumas! He got a great deal on a money making airline. Have you seen the profit margines lately? They have only changed a point or 2 since SKW bought us. Jerry didn't turn us into an industry leading company like you think he did.

Ha what a bunch of morons! walking a line in the middle of a sandbox! Why would skywest want a union so they can screw them up as bad as they did with asa. LOOK at what they have done there! oh thats right NOTHING!! what do you think ALPA will do for skywest when they represent DELTA? you think your going to get something better or equal to them? your all out of your minds!

Then why is the contract still not done?

What would you expect him to say? "Yeah. We saw them out there picketing. But, f*** 'em....they aren't getting another red cent"

You guys have been bickering with ASA and/or Delta for how long? How soon did you think SkyWest was going to resolve this?

If you read the other post you sill see that close to 100 showed. And only 20-30 can picket at a time.

Who cares...there should have still been another couple of hundred that could have been there. Where were they??? Sitting at home on their asses. Why can't you get them engaged?

Bob
