So I'm sitting here watching football and it just occurred to me that even though I've seen the charter envelopes in the crew lounge I have no idea who actually does the flights. Are they part of a line or do reserves get them? Seems like they might be fun.

They are usually in opentime. Look at the flight number. That should give you an idea if it's a charter.

Either/And/Or.... I've picked them up as a line holder and been assigned them while on Reserve. If you get one, some advice...

Once you unload the pax, make sure you go thru the cabin with a garbage bag and grab all the leftover FREE food & drinks before the rampers get onboard! The rampers in ATL know that you just did a charter flight and they'll be onboard to clean you out before the pidgeons can.

And yes, they are FUN!

The rampers aren't the only ones to look out for, we had a redheaded scarecrow of a FA a few years back that brought a rollaboard on our charter and packed away every sandwich and bottle of Gatorade she could get her hands on before we could get back there.

And yet we compare our profession to that of a Doctor. Beating the rampers to the leftover food. :)

RC does them... as long as his flight attendant mistress is also laying over there.

Not... When he said "red head", he was not kidding. Red meaning Fire Engine Red!!! If it's the same FA I'm thinking of...she is the ultimate 4 day pack rat.

Yep-

And a crazy-ass pirate.. Not kidding-at all.
