Yes I do! I am actually a member. Its a great organization to network through and meet a lot of nice guys and gals. And not all members are black either. One of my good friends in OBAP is white.
So would it be ok for someone to start OWAP? Or would that be "racist?" Afterall, it would just be an "organization to network through and meet a lot of nice guys and gals."
They do have one, its called the KKK. lol jk.
but for real, whites are not a minority in this country,
Yeah, real funny.
What does that have to do with anything? You think you get special rights simply because you belong to a minority group? Women aren't even in the minority, but they have WIA.
The question stands: would you have a problem with it if someone started OWAP and airline HR departments gave special treatment to OWAP members as they currently do to OBAP members?

keep this up! this is great! all you guys pissing and moaning about special treatment are just outing yourselves and proving A-GAIN why groups form to help one another in getting a job in this latently racist, misogynistic career field... flame on boys!
You already have one but I don't believe you or I could afford to join - it's called the trust fund kids.

Dude you cant compare the two. These groups are not formed to get special rights for its members. They are aimed at networking and the betterment of the organizations members and which the community it serves. Example, OBAP is not 100% black, its for people who support the views of the organization. Look at their website and read their mission statement. No where does it say "....So we can get special treatment"
However, most people I deal with today could really care less about what skin color you have or your sex when comes to how well you do your job.
I wonder who you deal with then. I can't count the number of times I've heard Captains make disparaging remarks about females. I'm not talking about kitchen jokes either. I think its safe to say if you are a female pilot on the radio, just assume that as soon as your transmission is complete, there will be cockpit jokes in other aircraft soon to follow. You could be a check airman with superb skills, but it won't matter. Its sad really, considering these guys often have daughters and sisters.
frankly I don't care about your race or your gynis. I just side with the supreme court in thinking that equality shall determine the success of a candidate, not the other factors previously mentioned.
PDUB 20, what percentage of OBP is black?
