There is no contract violation. Restricted days are not Red Arrow Days.

A Restricted Day is a day that Reserve Coverage is "below" adequate Reserve Coverage and on that day no swaps with open time will be allowed, but will allow pickups and pilot trades. The switch is "OFF." No swapping can occur on a Restricted day.

A Red Arrow Day indicates that the Reserve Coverage is at or near the Company's minimum, but adequate reserve staffing level to cover "only" unplanned absences and/or uncovered trips in Current Open Time. A swap may still be approved on a Red Arrow Day. Or, if not approved on the first attempt, may be approved the next day if a swap is resubmitted.

Read your contract.

Flipped? Totally. I quote (above) "There is no contract violation".

Realistic solution? Raise line values or bring our furloughed boys and girls back. Also better contract language that doesn't rely on the company acting in good faith. We need sharks at the negotiating table. People versed in politics and legal language.

I guarantee you if they bring the furloughs back there will be people on reserve that go months without flying or barely crediting 10hrs a month. Especially in IAD

Mabye so. I do know that on the 50, there are pretty much no captain reserves already for the next 3 days. Pretty normal to run out of pilots during the day, but 2-3 days out??? Dang...

Either Speedtape was voted out of office or he interviewed for an MEC position and wasn't selected. Either way it's sour grapes.

No, actually I read the contract. I am tired of hearing about the red arrow days. There is not a contract violation and there is no fix that will come out of a grievance. Would you agree?

Don't waste our dues on grievances without merit.

So what could have made 'ol Speed so mad to turn on the MEC he supported last month?

I guess it just is not clear to you. My position today, is the same as when that was posted. There is no contract violation. The grievance has no merit.

Nothing substantial, if anything, will result from a grievance with no merit.

That is the message--now and then.

No airline, including this one, will ever staff reserves for the intent of allowing pilots to swap with open time. I heard it right out of the mouth of the VP in the crew lounge about 6 months ago.
