And no I didnt just pick it because they are the one that hired me, it was the only regional that I applied for. I chose it for a few reasons. One being that they only have 2 hubs therefore Im not going to get bounced around the conutry. Also, ATL is an easy commute for me so Im not leaving the past 21 years of my life. Also, dispite this board people seem to be happy there and like the company. There will always be grips but think about this... People voice their opinion when they are unhappy, however they rarly voice it when they are happy. Hense why message boards are so negative. Yes upgrade time here is one of the highest of the regionals. However I look at that in two ways. One, as someone else explained to me once, dont pick a regional based on quick upgrade time because if you are already seeing the quick upgrade it will be gone by the time you get ready to upgrade. Also, ASA is getting new aircraft and upgrade time is still high. To me that says that people arnt fleeing the company because they are happy. Im going into this company knowing life for the first year is going to be hell in every way possible but after that it will get better. With this mentallity I cant be let down. Also, after being on call 24/7 for a charter company for the past 12 months that reserve shedule sounds awesome. I mean come on, you get a few days off a month, you are only on call 14 hours, a day. Thats a dream shedule! Another thing to consider, a lot of the guys at ASA (and other regionals) are fresh out of training or just quit a job flight instructing. No offense to them but they dont know what working for a 135 charter is like. From my experience with 2 of them Id work at Wal-Mart before Id work for another one! Breaking regs everyday, risking your life in crappy planes, no strick policies, no rteal days off, no rest, etc.
