If your child is starving to death, then you better start doing something differently. How much of a raise are you expecting and how much of a difference is it going to make in how your child eats? I assume you are both FOs. It looks like the company and ALPA are about $3.50 apart on FO rates. If you split the difference, will $1.75 make the difference between "supporting your family" and "preventing your child from starving"? How about what the difference would be between upgrading and being stuck as an FO while our flying is lost to Skywest, and Chautaqua, and Freedom?

Ok, Driver...here goes.

This isn't about small pay increases or evem small paycuts. This is about the big paycuts we all take by having the top of our payscale just plain disappear...while we are a profitable company. How absoulutely insane is that?

If we take paycuts while we are profitable, why bother with a union and all the bull******************** it brings? Life is so much simpler when we just let the company do whatever they want and hope it doesn't affect our own little world...at least not right now?

Cutting off the top of my payscale is a paycut for me, even if I'm not eligible to earn that money right now.

The FOs are have the most to lose in this scenario. They get a paycut and no guaranteed fast upgrade growth, under the company proposal.

And remember this big guy, this is mostly about JA trying to keep a union off Skywest property and keep the Skywest 70-seast rate down. We keep our rates and he is painted into the corner of either raising the Skywest 70-seat rates or getting a union in St. George.

It's really that simple.

You and I both know what it would take to get an agreement. It isn't what we have on the table, that's for sure. But it most defintitely does not involve any paycut.

No paycuts. Period.

Sorry Ninj if you were being sarcastic, I missed that.

But there are a bunch of tools who spout that crap in ernest, and I'm losing my humour, 'cause that mentality is costing us our careers.

Too much Kool-Aid being drunk nowadays.

Cheers!

FL990, you guessed IT! They don't want to show us those numbers because they would have to show us just how "underpaid" we are!!! If they NEED 3 mill a year savings, just fix those operational problems and WALAAAH!!

Exactly, the cool thing about numbers from independent "neutral" sources is that they use the same equation for everyone. They take the same cost sources from each company and plug them into the same equation to pump out a figure.

What the company wants to do is change the equation, BUT ONLY WHEN FIGURING ASA's numbers...THEN COMPARE THEM TO THE NUMBERS OF OTHER COMPANIES THAT ARE CALCULATED USING A DIFFERENT EQUATION!! Thus you get an APPLES TO "RED PAINTED" ORANGES equation. This is precisely why they don't want to divulge how they came up with there figures. They are skewed!!

Flying Ninja said:
So by that logic, when the company is operating in the RED, you'll be glad to give up your pay scale because after all, one hand washes the other right? :)

:rolleyes:Dude, are you STUPID or just standing to close to the Kool-Aid stand? By your "Deductive Reasoning," we should NOT get a raise when we ARE making money and then IF they go in the red, they take MORE of our pay??YGTBSM
Go back to your flight instructing job and take something for your SJS!!!

This isn't about a few bucks an hour for FO's. This is about not allowing ALPA to win. If ALPA wins, then the SKYW pilots will probably vote for ALPA. If ALPA doesn't gain big money and/or if assets are transferred, then ALPA probably won't win at SKYW. That alone is reason for Jerry to play hardball. What will ALPA do to counter? That is the question....

Yo Merchant...you must've read my post...

Yes I did. Now what happens if the status quo continues? What is ALPA's next move? What happens if Jerry moves assets to Skywest?

Nobody answered my question. Are the rates we are asking for our opening rates? A P2P told me they were our opening rates. That means it is our turn to move.

Well, congratulations ASADiver, now take the meat out of your mouth and think about what you just said. The argument is really only over a few bucks, right?

-Blucher:laugh:

No it is about 26 million dollars per year. That is the difference between the two sides. It isn't about a few bucks for FOs. The real money is elsewhere.

:rolleyes:OKAY...26million! We made what last quarter....37-39million? What is that a year....144million on up? Yeah, I think that is a FAIR SHARE of the PROFITs! If you have HAPPY employees, they are A LOT more productive. Our people...JA needs to look at the dynamic that they have at SWA. They PAY WELL and they get MAXIMUM PROFIT!

Actually, Skywest Inc. made 34.6 million last quarter. That is for both ASA and SKYW. So ASA made about 17 million last quarter. Not quite your 37-39 million figure Tomct. Where do you get these numbers?

9 years and only 41 shares? I think they are descriminating against the ATR folks. 7 years and 46 shares

I got 97 shares, they must like "original" SkyWest pilots better. Free money, ya I'll take it. Last March I cashed in my free options for over $8000.00!

What management knows is that pilots like yourself will never be happy, regardless of what you make, and apply their efforts to the majority that have more common sense.

What?

6 years and I got NOTHING!!!!! Whats up with that??

Brother I hope you get more than a few shares of stock!

Stocks cost your company absolutly nothing! They are authorized and issued and can be written off as paid in capital that is not really paid with cash by your company. When you sell them, if you can, an outside investor is really buying your certificates. Research your company, if they go bust or file BK in the future you can use them for toilet paper.

I really hope you guys don't bend over to management.

Stay the fight.

Blucher says I blew 6-8 grand on getting it and anon says Delta gave it to me. You guys need to get your stories straight. At least you both are partly on the same page - you both side-stepped my original point and never answered how a couple of bucks will help provide for you families and feed your children.

Get your story straight, Biscuit. Are you management or a line pilot? Choose, you can't be both.

"Joe", that is the most logical, reasonable, and correct thing I've ever heard you say. I'm impressed.
