Does anyone know if we are all (DFW) going to be getting these so we have some time to get from DFW to ATL (or SLC). I'm not talking about moving days either. What is the deal with these?

PBD days are your own version of a "discontinuity". After those 4 days you are considered to be either a SLC based pilot or ATL. You can fly over these if you want to to make more money (if your over 75 hours). Your moving days might be able to be put up against the PBD days to give you an 8 day stretch (if sched will work with you). Good luck, cheers- Wil

Yes everyone moving domicile gets them.

If you look at the contract (5.A.5) they have to pay you 24 hour per diem from the date of your last trip in your old domicile until they have given you 4 consecutive days off. The Per Diem Break days are just the companies way of ensuring that you get those 4days. If you don't get them they have to keep paying 24 hour per diem until you receive the days off.

Just to clarify this: All DFW pilots, regardless of if they are
A)taking company-paid moving
B)took the $750, or
C)neither of the two (commuting for now)

...are elgible for per-diem break days? Or is this an item that is only applicable if your'e being moved or took the lump sum?

How does this work if your line runs in DFW up until the very end of the month (Jan 29-30?)

You only get the PBDs if you will have your moving days after DFW closes (Jan 31). If you have your moving days scheduled in Jan or if you already had them, you wont get the PBDs. In 5.A.5 of the contract it talks about these 4 consecutive days off, those are the PBDs (but NOT your moving days). Your moving days should be mutually agreed between you and the company.

So basically if you get your moving days in Feb sometime, you get an extra four days off following your last assigned DFW trip. IF you got your moving days in Jan, you do not get the PBD days. Clear as mud? And you can work on the PBDs if you request it and they still count as the 4 consecutive days off.

And it has nothing at all to do with the moving money.

I'm not sure that what mmmburritos posts is correct, although I am sure that is what the company is telling the pilots involved. No doubt there will be multiple grievances over the DFW closure and how pilots get paid for the transition (why should that be any different than the way they have treated the rest of our contract recently!!!)

The 5.A.5 (PBD) have nothing to do with moving days. (They could be concurrent, I guess.) So regardless of when you move you still get the PBD on your schedule after your last DFW trip (or ATL trip if going to SLC) or they have to keep paying you Per Diem. So even if you had four moving days in January you still get the 4 PBD on your schedule.

I do agree that ALL pilots will get the PBD even if commuting for now.
