ASA or Eagle?

Just wanted to get your thoughts on whether you would go with ASA or Eagle. I've been in the pool since early October and ASA was always my first choice, but the offer from Eagle is on the table. I've seen alot of negativity towards ASA on here lately and just wondering how bad is it over there? Is it worth waiting for? Thoughts? Thanks!

If you have a class with Eagle take it. If ASA calls with a class date before you go then you can decide, but don't throw away the Eagle class to wait on ASA. You never know what may happen.

What srjorion said is exactly correct. If you have a chance to get into the game, then take that chance. If other opportunities present themselves later down the road, then you start to weight your options..

And I hope you don't take anything on this board too seriously. I came to this board when I was a CFI trying to learn about the industry and it took me maybe a week to realize most of the posters on this board are disgruntled, pessimistic, internet dwelling, too much time on their hands, pissed at the industry toolbags who shouldn't be flying.

When you step back and realize the position you are in, be positive and satisfied with the fact you have two possible jobs on the table and you are that much closer to attaining your goal. Don't let these clowns bring you down with their 24/7 hogwash, and certainly don't be too dependent on any of the responses you receive to your question. Do what's best for yourself in terms of quality of life, if that is important, and consider all the factors. But, bottom line, never turn down a job offer or interview if you don't have something already set in stone!

FWIW, I have a good friend that has been in the ASA pool for a few months (I wanna say he interviewed some time in September/October) and was just called for a class starting around the end of March, and he was told they will be resuming classes after that. Maybe the ASA date is right around the corner...

Another thing to consider, Who is the contractor competing for the flying and which one is always going to have the flying because they are part of the company. Now that may backfire in the future. For example, I was hired at XJ and everything was on the up and up. We were going to start getting 15,?, CRJs within a few months followed by a possible 10 or 15 more I think it was. XJ filled Ch11 and everythings has been doom and gloom since.

Have fun, I personnaly would go with Eagle, in fact I am waiting for a call from them.

Same job basically, different bases and airplanes. Future is completely foggy for both, truth be known. Don't bypass Eagle for a job at ASA that may never materialize. You can leave Eagle later if you're certain that you want to be at ASA. I'm sure you know the pool at ASA is not FIFO, but controlled by some convoluted inner secret that determines where you are for a class slot, so you just don't know when that will happen. Eagle is a good regional with a horribly slow progression right now but maybe your timing will be just right.

BTW I have flown for both so I do have some legitimate perspective here....

Take the job that pays you to fly. If you are looking for quality of life, ASA is better. That being said... Don't work for ASA.
