I guess the joke about how to make copper wire in a room full of pilots is true.

I consider not getting any "retro" pay or signing bonus as just another part of the screwing I took during my years at ASA. I would have received bonus money if the contract had been settled in 4 years and not 5, so I should get at least 80%, but I know I can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up the fastest! Thanks ALPA. To those of you who have "stuck it out", enjoy your bonus but it will not do as much to soothe the pain as leaving that dump would do. Life can be so much better somewhere else. My suggestion is take your signing bonus and use it to offset the pay cut you might take to go somewhere better.

How do you occupy a pilot?

Throw a quarter under the couch, but tell him there are two!!

Give retro pay to people who made the choice to move on, are you serious? Granted, the people who have been here the entire span of contract negotiations should get more then someone who hasn't been here the entire time. If I was at ASA, I would be pissed if a 8 month f/o got as much as a 3 year f/o or captain. However, those who have moved on to other opportunities knowingly gave up the opportunity to get retro pay. I don't care if you stick to your guns or are just along for the ride. If ASA starts to dispurse retro pay to people who have left the company, that's a lot less money to give to the ASA pilots who are currently working there.

I think the ASA MEC should divvy up the signing bonus to include pilots that recently quit ASA. I put up with 4.5 years of crap, so why should a new hire get $$$ when they didn't suffer through what I went through? I'm not talking about an equal share because I don't work there anymore, but a signing bonus is the legal equivalent of punitive damages for pain and suffering. There should be some amount allocated for those that couldn't take it anymore. I hope they do the right thing.

They could at least send me some herbal remedy that can shrink my arsehole after all those years, I haven't had a normal bowel movement since September 15, 2002!

ARE YOU F´ING HIGH????
I was at ASA until 9/2/07 so was there for ALL of it and I expect nothing!!! I also was the first and loudest about 100% retro since day one when John Rice told me we weren´t going to get it!
The people on the senority list at DOS are the only ones that should and will get anything in the form of retro.

One of the union guys said people on property from the date of the TA would be eligible for the bonus. Isn't it usually done from the actual date of signing?

I think we would look better if we all put on cheekless leather chaps and ran around the GO, yelling nyyyaaa nyyyaaa nyyaaa nyyyaaa nyyyaa...

We would look better doing that than we do right now, having this money grubbing pissing contest.

COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE TAKE THE HIGH RODE???!!!

You are right and you could probably knock another couple of pilots off of eligibility. Anyone retiring?

After all, who deserves it more, a new hire or a guy who has served 25 years?

It is sad to see how greedy we all are! The MEC has a responsability to distribute this fairly and they will do just that. If you left for something better your out of luck. I sure wish I had a senority # somewhere else. That is your bonus.

You mean the high road?

or, is the "rode" a freudian slip that goes with the cheekless leather chaps?

we have a winner

To those recent departees:

What would you think the chance of getting this TA voted IN would be if every pilot here had to vote on it based on receiving hundreds if not thousands less in signing bonus so that those who quit could be compensated?

If it was decided to compensate you, where's the cutoff? 09/2002? Last year? Or anytime prior to when YOU left?

Recent retirees due to age 60 may have a little better argument. Not expressing an opinion on that, just an understanding of where they're coming from.

What about all the money paid to ALPA by pilots that have left? You think this is not part of sticking to your guns and help out. That is why the people who left deserve something if you were here to do battle during some part of this contract.

Wow. Greed really does make otherwise smart people do and say stupid things.

The pilots who made a difference by leaving helped the whole pilot group at ASA. The mass exit by pilots this year I think put a lot of pressure on mgt. If these pilots did not leave this contract would not be TA'd.

Yeah you're right. Why don't you pm me your address so that I can send you my check. Thanks for your "help" in the contract by bailing. [insert sarcasm here]

.........Kind of like Clinton's crack about dragging a $20 bill through a trailer park, but I digress................Now go away, enjoy your new gig, and stop trying to steal from those of us who are still stuck here ,or chose to stay.

Thats right. Like sleeping with Rosanne before she got fat AND rich. If you couldn't stand the Cellulite and left, all you have is a great memory of a mercy mission, but no compensation..........

It was the CoonAss Carvil that made the remark about the $20 thru the trailer park.....about Paula Jones.......but I digress.

Leaving is the bonus check they deserve.

OK - enough!

Pay is earned when the work is performed. Retro is short for retroactive.

If someone worked at ASA and earned pay, then retro pay is theirs. How is this "greedy, stupid, hatred," or "stealing?" Somebody explain the ethics of this name calling.

In law there is another concept called "standing." It is my guess that prior employees lack the standing to enforce a claim to a "signing bonus." So this is more mental masturbation than anything else. But, being a guy who likes mental masturbation (as evidenced by my near Generalissimo status) I'm very curious the basis for your ideas of "fair."

Google "retro pay" and you will find that former employees, retirees, and dead folks all get "retro pay." This is probably the exact reason for calling this a "signing bonus" as those who are not on the list will not be around for ratification.

I think everyone who has moved on is pleased that ASA got an offer they can consider. However, look at new hire pay at the legacies. You think your pay stinks? Dare I admit - adjusted for inflation, my checks are less than my ASA EMB120 FO pay back in 1999. Throw us a Biscoff. :)

That's what I'm thinking - anyone care to explain the allegation of stealing when there is nothing taken and no intent?
