Modified 900? Last I heard the 90 was a pig like the 50. Challenger=good, 50=pig. 70=good, 90=pig. Are they doing some mods to the 900?

First of all, the ATR does a fine job in all wx. I have had severe icing on more than one occasion and it performed beautifully. We don't get the privilege of climbing to high alt to stay clear of the wx. It's not the best climber. In the summer, we get screwed and stay in the wx due to poor climb perf, but all things considered, I'd rather fly the ugly ATR than the RJ. If I get stuck somewhere(mech), I can drive home.

The DHC-8-400 burns twice the fuel and carries a couple more pax with over 300kts. The speed and few more seats aren't worth it when your going to CSG, AGS, or CHA. Everyone 250 below 10K anyway. If the company is getting rid of the a/c for a newer Turboprop, then why spend all the money on the CAT 2 tng?

Thanks for that interesting diatribe. I am not all knowing, and I want you guys to get some more 70 seaters, but not anything bigger---because I want to actually have a mainline---and I think you should too. If you are a Comair pilot, I can see why you might be worried--since it may be awhile before you fly anything bigger--at least in the Delta family. We want to try to bring as many people over to Mainline---not bring mainline people to DCI. I am thankful that some of our furloughs have gotten that opportunity---but it will be great when they come back to 100 seaters or bigger, and then ASA and Chataqua people follow.
People like you don't really "get it." The more Mainline jobs---the better. The RJDC wants it the other way around.

I dont begrudge you your opinion, it just cracks me up that no matter what is said, there is the Gen - on the REGIONAL BOARD, telling us over and over, ad nauseum, what DALPA is going to allow! We get it. You want furloughees back to work, (commendable) don't like Comairs policies, (Understandable). I just cant help but wonder if you dont have anything better to do that troll the regional board and expound on us time after time what DALPA will allow or not allow! Not one post mentioning Comair or ASA does not have you force-feeding us DALPA rhetoric. I GET IT!

That said, I too hope Delta adds about 50 100 seaters, brings back furloughees, and hires ASA/Comair pilots exclusively to fly them when those pilots move up to bigger mainline planes! I'm just not going to hijack EVERY thread to drive this home to everyone who will read it......

I really enjoy this board, and the WHOLE airline business. I do--really. Maybe I am just weird (probably), but I have opinions on all parts of this business. I flew in the commuters (pre-regional days), so I was there---not like many of the other Delta guys who flew in the Military. I have defended regional pilots many times--mostly to 727FOs when I was the FE.

As far as Dalpa goes, I am not a negotiator nor an MEC member, but I do question them often in the lounge and keep "my ears open" also. I pay attention. I wasn't trying to slam you guys---I was trying to tell you what I think will happen--and I did include the fact that I think DCI will get relief on the number of CR7s. As far as 100 seaters go---I hope DCI doesn't get any, but DO hope that our furloughs return and then DCI guys move up and get hired at mainline and start on them. We want to keep as many "higher" paying jobs as possible,a nd lower the number of DCI jobs that pay less. We should move DCI people up to Mainline if they want to go. From what I have read---I don't think Dalpa will "allow" any 100 seaters at DCI--and that is a good thing for you and me.

More higher paying jobs for everyone.......I'm all for it! 100 seaters, maybe never at Delta or DCI, who knows. You probably are right, unless there is bankrupcy....all bets are off. One thing I firmly disagree with is Delta will NEVER higher strictly DCI guys. Too much of an ole boyz club for that to ever happen. To dangle the possibility is purely ludicrous.

The future of the ATR is with Delta MEC and their scope. For ASA, they are a money maker. But they fly short legs and like to avoid ice. They have 66 seats and are exempt from Scope. If the greater than 50 seat scope stays put, I'd put money on a Q-400 as a replacement. If the scope goes out the window, my bet is on the new modified CRJ-900 (more performance than 700). Either way, there is a light shining at the other end of the tunnel.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. ATR block hours are DCI block hours and we are scoped on the basis of block hours - this is another way the Delta MEC ensures we will never obtains enough votes to gain access to representation.

RJDC guys are mostly geezers that are still bitter that their misguided tactic in the fall of 2000 failed. Most guys I know here don't support it and would rather see the whole company turn around, and have opportunies for the return of the furloughs and future career advancement.

Your right Delta will never hire strictly DCI guys. But not because the good ole boyz club your talking about. I know this because I use to bring in New-Hires at DL. Its because the law will not allow it. DL will always hire various pilots with various backgrounds, i.e. military, DCI, other regionals, and other mainline pilots. Can they do preferential hiring, sure they can and all airlines do to certain groups depending on the curent environment in which they are hiring under and agreements they solidify. The only way a pure DCI hiring situation would be reality is if you got stapled on the bottom of the list and you guys all became one entity. My bet is...Not going to happen anytime soon.

For what its worth the latest aviationinteviews.com gauge on ASA shows that person as being hired into the 3-15-04 class with equipment TBA. Kinda strange that not much has been said on here about it, or that at least 1 in the class of 10 isn't on this board.

Been in the pool for 15 months, got the call last week for class date of March 15th. I was current, so no new sim, at least so far. Any other poolies get any news?

Can't wait to get started . . .

I have searched and searched the old threads and can't find that discusssion on reserve at ASA. Any one with time who could fill us in on how reserve, relief and nap lines work and opinions on whether they are commutable at all? With the new RFP, assuming it stays as announced, how long would you project reserve, etc to last?
