So just out of curiosity, how hard is it to non-rev with scuba gear?

One dive bag containing scuba equipment, other than an empty dive tank, may be accepted as part of your free baggage allowance. An empty dive tank will not be included in determining the free baggage allowance and will always be subject to a $100 fee. Scuba equipment accepted in excess of the free baggage allowance will be assessed the appropriate fee based on destination.

Depends how big your dive bag is. Best option is to get it in a carryon bag. I have an oversized suitcase for when I take it all, but I can cut it down to the size of a travelpro by just taking the mask, reg, fins, 3mm Polartec, and BC.

If you have to check it, good luck when you come back to ATL. You'll have to go to bag claim and get it, then try to bring it back through the checkpoint to get to the bus. Unless it's in a rollerboard, that big bag won't fit through the xray. Major hassle. Better off to get off the plane, get on the bus, park in daily parking, then go to bag claim. That's if they don't send your bag to Timbuktu.

In other words, make sure you get it all in a rollerboard and carry it on!

I heard that Mesa got the ATL-Timbuktu route.

We've been using it for quite some time now. It's shortened St. Croix (until the "mighty" E180 took over), PLS, Puerto Rico trips, and it's the only way to get to CZM or BZE.
