Oh please,
Try going through OKC a few times and see how that goes. I think they hold the record for crew bags being sent to bag claim. Twice to me.

I've never flown with anyone who has had their bag go missing. FO or FA. Not once.

To paraphrase your post: "Well it hasn't happened to me or anyone I know so it must not be true!"

It has happened. Twice in my case.

Funny thing about treating people like second class citizens; if they get a chance to get you back, they will....

You finally get it! You would think the company would have learned this by now. Oh wait, you're talking about how we treat the rampers. Nevermind.

guess I'm just the lucky one..

Some notes from some of the posts above.

I had an FO lose his bag for 5 days on the ATR around 5-6 years ago. So, it has happened in the past, and happens in the present, and will in the future.

FAR Part 91 states Pilot Cert/Med Cert has to be in YOUR POSSESION. So, in your bag which is on the plane fits I. I had a stan ride years ago on the E120 and the IP wanted to see my certifcates. I got up and retrieved them from my bag in the closet. He stated they had to be on your person, and I informed him negative ghostrider, in your possesion! He was cool with that BTW.

ATL CP told me the other day that it's one butthole FAA Inspector who is obsessed with this. I don't care, mine goes in the overhead. Less than 3 years to go, may as well get a violation on my ticket :).

So exactly what kind of violation would that be anyway?

"Did you damage an airplane?" "Nope."
"Bust an altitude?" "Nope."
"Runway incursion?" "No."
"So what exactly did you do?"

"I put my bag in the overhead"

 Oh, the horror!!!!

I remember stopping the baggage cart in DEN on a 30 minute turn to retrieve my bag; which had been taken out of the yellow bag. Since then, my bag goes in the overhead and always will!!!

Maybe IF I get a violation I can sue "Crew Needs" since they market the bag to CRJ pilots and the ability to fit it in an overhead!! I am kidding...

Fly safe and ready to strike!!

I'm gonna be the Rosa Parks of aviation.

My tombstone will read:

"In defiance of management tyranny, stored his bag overhead during flight, lest his underwear, toothbrush, and comb misplaceth"

Throw in a little corruption and you could have an airport named after you.

The "Hartsfield-Jackson-Malcolm X-Marconi International Airport" has a nice ring to it.

Phony- Just make sure you have a meeting with the union before hand. Rosa Parks' action was well calculated before hand. No excuse for Jim Crow but she is no hero.

You guys all just need to stop screaming about it and just put the bags where you feel like.........company policy isn't gonna get anyone violated by the FAA...in all truth, the FAA probably doesn't care where you put your bag..........just stop bitching and whining about it, throw it in the overheads and be done with it......I'm sure that the CP's aren't trolling on the ramps looking for crew bags......and even if they do call you on it, honestly explain yourself, and if they ask you to put it back there, comply and put it back in the overhead at the next stop...problem solved

I don't see how the feds can violate you if you account for the weight and balance of the crewbag.

I wondered the same. Had a Capt put his bag in the cabin and just asked me to add 1 carry-on to the load manifest every leg. Sounded legit to me as the bag was accounted for.

No big deal!

Just ignore it! This will all pass. Put the bags where you want to. Mine goes on the cart with a big pink tag! It is to big for the overheads. I check it's location as soon as I get off the aircraft on the post flight.

Supposedly C Tutt is working on the issue according to the union. I guess he is one of the few at the glass palace that gets it. Supposedly dec. 1 is the target they are shooting for to resolve the issue. We'll see.

if you look in the manual, and your bag is smaller than 21 inches, it is ALLOWED in the cabin as a personal item per the FAA!

U guys r babies...in almost 3 yrs of flying, i have yet to have had aproblem with my bag in the back...just remember, what goes around, comes around...or something like that (delta slogan)!!!!!!!!!!!

Good point, but that doesn't get you by the company . Yet, they aren't looking for crews putting their bags inside.

Didn't one of your captains get suspended because he went to baggage claim to retrieve his bag (it was accidently sent then) and delayed the flight?

I call BS, but there has to be more to the story. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen, especially if he has a condition that requires control drugs...drugs that were in his suitcase.

I promise you that it happened. Go ask CP KR about telling him to wash his undrwear in the sink.

Received an answer to my "AskASA" question on this subject. Dec 1st is the date that things return to the way they have been. If your bag fits you can place it in the overhead. Otherwise in the back it goes with new 'yellow bags' and Delta-type crew tags. Details to come about all this.

A big part of this being resolved is our MEC Chair informing VP CT that bags contain uniform items, passport, etc, and that security reports would be made if a pilot's bag was taken away from the plane. Mine has my spare glasses which our SPs require, so that would prevent me from flying :).

Thanks to our MEC for helping resolve this, and VP CT for seeing our point on this, and actually doing something about it in a timely manner. Refreshing for sure!
