Recently, very recently- I was awarded a 97 hour line on the 50 seat, why are these lines blocked so high?I sit upper middle of the road in both company senority and a/c seat. Why are these lines blocked so high. Some guys love -some do not I am the latter of the two. It has 13 days off however the trips are rough. No consistent duty in times, I would hate to see a junior guys sched. This place (ASA) needs changed now or shut down. My .02 cents

my lines have been around 78 hours the last few months. i thought a majority of them were on the low side

I wish I had 97 hours and still got 13 days off. The line values actually dropped for September. I think most people want to get hours when they come to work. Hmmm...78 hours with 13 off or 97 with 13 off....I guess each is own. Of course, you might be starting at dawn on the first day and midnight on the last day which can suck.

I say you hit a home run.

Considering how poorly the ramp operates and how many delays you will incur you will probably end up timing out or getting at least 120 hours of credit.

Just remember.

Sit back, don't lift a finger, and enjoy the chaos !

The new guy making the skds is doing a good job with what he is given from DL. The lines always go to the crapper this tx of yr through Thanksgiving and Christmas. Personally I don't do 4 day trips so I will take my 3 day w/ 78 hrs and an early duty out.

Well it is tough like you said - early duty in late duty out. Now enter the poor flight schedules as a commuter ( i know it is my own fault). I just thought in general the lines sucked - absolutely no pattern as far as days off, rest, duty in/out, overall a pretty sh!tty yet par month for ASA and their lack of management. It is definitely time to f@ck this place up. If I cannot see my family -they will not be able to feed theirs. I believe it about time to exercise the strike vote.

I Find This Funny.

AMANSWORLD comes on and states his problem and says we need to burn the place down. A bunch of guys jump in and say, man I wish I had your line. AMANSWORLD comes back and says yeah it's my fault (although he does not truely feel that way) and says let's burn it down. Now I come along and point this out. Next will be 19 saying yeah let's burn it down even though they would kill for that line.

I guess we'll never be happy.

Well - they way I see it (ocassionally blurred by whiskey) is that we as a pilot group have collectively decided to strike on the information given to us by company and by the union. We voted 90+% in favor. --- Say what you mean and mean what you say---- We do as a group need to pull the trigger in some respect from this point. We obviously DO NOT have the company's respect, the general public's respect or support (because we are highly paid pilots-lol read BS) and what really pisses me off is we do not even have the respect of our peers among other carriers. The real huge amount of disrespect comes from ALPA national, they lack the testicular fortitude to do the right thing. As I see it, it is now a respect issue and we have none, in my little world honesty and respect are everything, I guess it is time to get out of this lack of a profession. Back to the bottle now. Stayed tuned I may get real pissy later.

I read Kevin's letter, and if what he said was true, then I will wait and see what October's lines look like. I give alot of credit to a guy that will atleast take the time and write a letter to the pilots giving us a heads up on the worse than usual lines that were heading our way.

Hopefully next months lines will be better. On a side note since AMANSWORLD is a commuter, I am wondering what the lines in Oct. will be like when the SLC people come back. I am sure that commutable lines will be at a premium.

The annoying thing about the high blocked lines is that SLC went from 53 lines to 37 in Sept, the result being 9+ year Cpts on reserve - while many of us are trying to coordinate a move. It would have been nice if instead of 37 lines blocked to 85-90+ they had dropped the average line value and built a few more lines. Whaaa I guess.

Oh and again, the vote was 78% in favor, not 90.

Say what? Where did you come up with that one? Do you really believe that the guys who were lucky enough to get out just prior to the vote (or unlucky in the case of MIL leave) wouldn't have voted for it also?

:rolleyes:Dck, step away from the crack pipe!! 93%!!! Oh and by the way, I got money that says they back out of us pulling out of SLC before the end of the year. I bet that there is going to be an anouncement, somewhere along the lines of "....Err...Ahhh, we made a mistake and will not be closing the base until the END of the year!"
The Far Side comic of monkeys scratching their heads and wondering "Why" is TRUELY how the granite palace is run!!!

The lines will never get better until the scheduling language gets better. The planners could care less whether pilots like their sorry work. They know that the sorry lines will be flown whether the pilots like them or not. The lines simply have to accomodate the staffing for any given month.
