...and awards all the shiny new ATR FOs who just got out of IOE last week CRJ-700 spots for August.

So much for the seatlocks. Which mean absolutely nothing anymore.

Whats the point of hiring and training into the ATR if they're just gonna let em off a coupla months later while getting rid of the thing?

There is no point. By now you should understand a few things about ASA:

1. They don't care about the rules, even their own. They will break them wherever it's convenient.

2. Professional incompetence is the norm, not the exception.

3. They will always step over a dollar to pick up a dime. This is why they do things like this, needlessly spending thousands of dollars training people, but then dock you $150 in you pay check erroneously and spend thousands fighting you for 6 months when you file a grievance to get it back.

4. The left hand generally doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

And FYI, crew planning doesn't make up the awards. Brian Morris, aka Forrest Gump, manager of flight crew administration does.

Speaking of Incompetence

To those granted the privilege of an SLW aircraft repo for repainting, prepare yourselves for a clusterfuque of monumental proportions.

I highly doubt ASA will honor those effective dates. I bet they're just getting things ready for the end.

I heard its because none of them want to fly with pennekamp or joemerchant!

There's no lock for new-hires, and the reason there are all the 70-seat vacancies is because in the new contract you can bid down for QOL, which is what a few pilots have been doing.

Now look what you have done...ruined a good thread about how the company is screwing us by pointing out the truth.....

Ha, I did one of those about a month ago, fun times! I would agree with the clusterfudge comment too.

Scheduled to leave at 7 a.m. but you don't get in the air until 8 because you have to wait half an hour for your gen decs and an hour for fuel at the MX hanger. Fly to SLW and hope that the weather is VFR or you are well versed in the art of flying DME arcs not in the FMS. After arrival at SLW taxi to one side of the airport to have the plane "inspected" and the galley raided by customs. After the pillaging you will then taxi the plane across the airport to the paint shop where a van (and hopefully someone to drive that van) will be waiting for you after you clear immigration and have you pilot certificate confiscated for 15 minutes.

Look out here comes the fun part!

You will now have the opportunity to take that dream vacation you've always wished for but could never afford, an all expense paid scenic tour of the best that Mexico has to offer. Slums creeping up the side of majestic mountains? You got 'em! Clogged streets filled with smog -belching VW Beetle taxis? You came to the right place! After taking in wonderous sights such as these for an hour and a half the van will then deposit you (completely satisfied and thoroughly awestruck) at the Monterrey airport where, if your fortunate, you will catch the last flight back to ATL. (Don't be late, the flight WILL NOT be held for you!)

Follow all this up with 2:40 of climate-controlled comfort on of out sleek (less than) new Canadair Regional Jets and you would have to agree that this is an assignment any line pilot would give their left, uhhhh, arm for!

I was told we're going to start flying the ATRs down there for paint this summer. Sign me up!!! But I'll be sure we miss that last flight out of MTY. Nueva Luna and Zocalo here we come!!!

I hope they include a briefcase of bail and bribe money when ATR crews hit Mexico!!!

Yeah, there were 4 of us that brought 2 planes down that day and we we're debating our options since we were cutting it close on making the flight out of MTY. A last blast in Mexico wouldn't have been the worst thing.

I wonder how much cheaper it is to paint an airplane down there.

Considering there's no laws against dumping the toxic paint stripper and unused paint in the local creek, VERY cheap!

For some odd reason I have "Last Mango in Paris" stuck in my head now.

I went down to Captain Tony's.....

Sounds about right, although I think they may send a couple FOs to class every month. I think we just had 3 go to class this month. Also, I've heard BM has responded to queries from several FOs with tentative class dates in April , June, and July. Of course, the key word is tentative, so take that for what its worth.
