I have absolutely no idea why she was crying, but thought it through a little further.
outtahere said:Yeah because being professional has worked so well for us so far. Personally I am not feeling very professional since the company I work for has chosen to lie and stall every attempt at a better contract for four years. Yes, I do feel for our passengers, but they are the only reason we will get a contract. When Delta takes notice of the dismal performance of ASA and starts to fine Skywest, then we may actually see some movement. Or they may cancel our contract, chance we have to take.
No Delay said:Be careful not to place blame on the wrong group. All of this is just the unintended consequences of greedy managers trying to rap labor in an effort to line their own pockets.
War is always bad. Innocient people always get caught in the middle. However, war is still sometimes nessecary.
If a passenger misses a wedding, funeral, vacation, homecoming, whatever...it is not because I wrote something up. It is because management is trying to find a quick and easy way to save money.
atlcrjdriver said:Your logic is completely misplaced. I am not going to extend my walk around trying to purposfully ground a perfectly good a/c to "advance to cause". Believe it or not it is the pax that pay us to get them from point A to point B and that is what I am going to do. If there is something serious that will affect the safety of the a/c that is a different story.
Doing my job means that I follow the check lists and company procedures perscribed in the POH. Not carrying a nickle to tap the nose of the a/c or open the aft eq bay/avionics bay door for any reason unless I see something leaking from it. The only door that has to be opened is the nose door to verify the pins are out no leak and signs of damage.
To call the people that pay your salary casualties of war is asinine and I would hope that the CNC/MEC agrees with me.
There has to be a better way ...

Until you qualify for upgrade, spare us the discourse on what you'll do or not do. It's not your aircraft, it's mine. Since you brought it up, go re-read in your "job description" how you answer to the captain and he can modify your duties as he sees fit.

As a former mechanic I can say they get paid the same hourly rate regardless of the task. The ones that complain because they have to put down the cup of coffee to change a light bulb aren't even respected by their own. The fact is the mechanics are as unhappy as we are, that's why their retention is bad also.crjskipper said:just sucks for you guys to do this. all this does is screw some poor mechanic who has to stop changing a tire to come over and waste 15 minutes writing up something. where does the poh say to open any door on the plane to check hydraulic fluid or else. let the operation ruin itself as it normally does. it doesnt need our help. our mechanics are about the only group i have complete faith in. i hate seeing them and the pax get screwed so someone can take a 10 minute delay.
Show the company that we are the professionals.

TOOL CRIB said:Um yeah, I had a captain like you once. He would keep telling me to do crap just because he's the captain and that's what he could do. The stupidest crap you could ever think of too. Then as soon as I started subtle protesting he pulled up the same argument that he'd take me to a chief pilot and I wouldnt want that. Guess what, I told him that's a good idea and let's go see a chief pilot since he was now threatening me and making a very poor work environment. Maybe I should have been a lawyer, since I was in there for 5 min and left without an issue. The captain was in there much longer. I've never had it come up again.

John Pennekamp said:I would caution you the same. Until you gain some experience you stick your foot in your mouth every time you tell us what you "think" we should do. You have never been through a contract at this company. You have no experience to draw from. And your SP clearly states that you report to the captain. The CPs have backed me before, and will back me again. I'll put my paycheck against yours that my reputation with them surpasses yours! I'm not the typical jerk you think I am, but I'm also not afraid to let an insubordinant FO know they won't run my cockpit!

And though you've been through one, it still shows how little experience and much of a doosh bag you actually are "cappy."You have never been through a contract at this company. You have no experience to draw from.
Be careful there sport, pro standards loves pricks like you who "think" they know it all. I bet you're your biggest fan!And your SP clearly states that you report to the captain. The CPs have backed me before, and will back me again.
Can you really spare a couple of bucks like that???I'll put my paycheck against yours that my reputation with them surpasses yours!
I'm not the typical jerk you think I am,
You really should save all this tough guy talk for all the high school chicks you impress at the local mall!but I'm also not afraid to let an insubordinant FO know they won't run my cockpit!
CFIT said:You are un-believable, if this kind of pilot you are you need to go do something some thing by yourself (like whackoff) and not a position where you have to work with others. I would tell any FO that has to fly with a dork like you to put visine in your coffee and watch you squirm thru your flight then write you up to the CP for flying when medically unable, if could in the first place.
The only reason you are a Captain, in your case questionable, is because of seniority and not because your are any better than you FO.
My comments were directed to one FO in particular who seems to think he's running the show, not all FOs in general. Y'all can spare me the rants on what a jerk I am, because as y'all should know by now, I've got pretty thick skin.

Didn't you used to fly an ATR for us and try to meet some 14 yr. old chick at the Macon mall? Yep. thought so. How've you been doing John? Pedophile.....
