Let's say: No paycuts. A small raise across the scale. And some nice improvements in quality of life.

Can we justify it? Can we find savings in other areas?
(I know there will be some smart asses - but I would really like to hear some good ideas).

I'll start:
_____________________________________________________________

Departure Coordinators.
Eliminate this position. I have found no value in having a DC. Between me and the gate agent...we can get the job done without them.

We need more people loading/unloading/parking than we sitting in a breakroom with a clipboard and a radio.

Close the GO???

don't snail mail that retarded letters after getting it on FLICA and mailbox. Surprise he didn't put it on crewtrac.

Retract BL's $800,000 worth of stock, and use it as a carrot in front of his face until HE can find ways to control costs without tapping into labors' salaries. And when he completes this modest task (as if), divide it up amongst all the employees at the company. I guess that would amount to about $133 apiece. See, profit sharing can work.

1) Instead of double engine taxiing to concorse D fix the problem with a/c damage
2) Instead of asking for 50% deadhead....deadhead us 50% less
3) Departure coordinator´s do NOTHING...even with their new job description they are a $500,000 a year expense
4) Quit allowing everyone in the company to take food and drinks from the company (water cokes peanuts etc etc) Name one comapny that provides this for there staff. Look in each chief office and see how many cases of water they have in thier. I know Kim does I saw it yesterday!
5) Every employee in the company take a 5% pay cut....We ain´t doin this alone!! Including the Ass holes that call themselves managers/VP´s/CEO´s
6) Get ground support equipment that works to alleviate the need for constant wear and tear and the APU´s/packs/fuel burns/oil usage etc etc.....kind of like every other regional in the world that uses ground AIR AND POWER when at the gate.
7) Jerry has said that to realize the cost savings of combining ASA and SKYW would take 5 years.....what is he waiting on? Why hasn´t he started the process to show savings on his new purchase?

I could do this all day, but what good would it do. These aren´t new ideas...I´ve been arguing most for over 6 years now.
All I can add to this is the most basic of all business models.....It takes money to make money. The cost savings this company could realize by spending, oh let´s say, $800,000 on new equipment would be huge.
End of rant!

Free booze on overnights. I think you could gut my pay for a free wetbar every overnight. Oh and the 18 year pilot won't exist.

The departure coordinators are there to decipher the tribal language on the radio. That is priceless in Atlanta.

I agree with the no food/drink issue. Pilots and FA's should be given a large bottle of water per day, not the Dasani flitered and modified tap garbage. Also, you know the rampies raid those catering trucks more than the pilots. Are they not adequately fed and watered? Probably not.

10% paycut for ALL non-contract ASA employees, including GO, skd, admin, payroll, HR, and the rest of the non-departure producers.

And for Superpoopyboy, atlcrjdriver, denumnuts, voice, crashpad, etc. After the strike vote, their G/O jobs go away.

Sinca3 - Very good points.

I started this thread initially because I was making the point that coming to the employees for pay cuts should be an absolute last resort. It is not just a simple pay cut...it is my family.

It is the same as saying "I am coming to your house tonight and I am going to take that dinner plate from your wife and kids. You should not be feeding your kids a meal like this...you should be feeding sandwiches."

Everyone should be fighting mad over the company asking for such unless it was an absolute last resort. Just from the few simple ideas from Sinca3, it is obvious the company has not pursued all other avenues.

That's funny...but too true.

A couple of gate agents were on the bus the other night. Both were complaining about passengers be mad about their flight being oversold and not being able to catch their flight.

No lie....I could only understand about every 5th word from these gate agents.

Do you know how much our customer service would be improved if we hired gate agents they could understand...and showed just an ounce of compassion.
