ASA Cancellation pay question...

Ok, I know a reserve line holder is not entitled to cancellation pay, but what about a relief line holder with reserve days on his or her line? In other words, say I have a reserve day on my relief line and am assigned a trip on that reserve day which is subsequently removed or cancelled. Can I claim cancellation pay for that particular trip or are reserve days on relief lines treated just like reserve lines for pay purposes??

If I understand correctly a pilot on reserve (even just for the day) can't claim cx pay for a reserve day, but I could be wrong.

I would guess that it would be interpreted the same way if someone on reserve were to claim an extension after getting the "call scheduling" message from Ops and having to do more flying.

that is actually an outstanding question...before you stress out to much about the answer, the first question you should be asking yourself is are you over guarantee, because if you are not, then it would make no difference either way..

read the contract section 3 paragraph I...

the way that I read it, I believe you would be entitled to cancellation pay because it states "A regular or relief pilot..."...it goes on to say "“schedule” includes all trips for which a pilot is responsible regardless of the method by which he is assigned or awarded the trip."

I would interpret this to mean you get paid for it...

Again though, it is a pointless if you are under guarantee because CX pay is NOT like premium and is not paid above guarantee.

That's what I was thinking. I am actually over guarantee with a relief line and rapidly approaching 100 hrs. of credit for the month. It seems to me that I can claim it as well. The perplexing thing is that under employee data in Crewtrac it shows my line type as Blockholder and my pay type as Reserve. I've had numerous cancellations on reserve days and on trips that have been on my schedule since the finals came out. I can already see the fight developing when I submit 35 hours of credit!

I believe if the trip even shows on your revised scheduled and is then removed you are still paid for it.

There are two types of pilots at asa... LINE HOLDER or RESERVE. If you are a line holder you relief of regular your work rules are completly different than if you are a reserve line holders.. The key here is whether you were awareded a relief line or not. If you hold a relief line you are a line holder, and therefore you ARE NOT A RESERVE PILOT. YOU CAN CLAIM EVERYTHING.. YOU ALSO GET YOUR 11 HRS IN DOMICILE WHEN YOU FINISH A TRIP ON A RESERVE DAY ON A RELIEF LINE.. (I have been to the Chief poo about this one). Clear as MUD?
