Hi
I received a call from ASA for an interview.
they should be conducting interviews in a couple of months.
hope the info is useful to someone .if not i just waisted 2 minutes of my precious time watching my neibourgh in a G string.
oh well....

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of time do you have? What kind of background are you from (pt 135/121 etc)? How long ago did you apply? Do you have 'advanced' CRJ training? Just wondering what I have to do to get a call. Thanks.

Interesting stuff. I interviewed back in October and have been in the pool since mid November. I talked to a guy from Flight Safety the other day that was recently hired. He had just over 250tt and 50 multi. I had around 1100tt and 125multi and the whole process from sending in the resume to getting the interview took about 6-weeks. I haven't heard anything about any upcoming class dates though. I hope it is soon but have a feeling it will be a little while longer.

ASA called me a few weeks ago to know if I was still in the loop, how much flight time in the last 6 months, ect...
But nothing about class dates, she said maybe march, april, may...no ideas!
I interviewed beginning of sept. and still waiting, but having a blast flying the 414 everywhere, so there is no rush...

Good luck saviboy for your future interview, PM me for gouges if you need to.
You know where to find me Xav...;)

I spoke with one of the head guys there today and he told me directly that all hiring was on hold. He also said that classes will be drawn from the pool based on attrition. Right now the company is 100 pilots heavy. They are losing 15-20 a month. You do the math. He indicated that he did not think they would be a new hire class until late April or early May. He did say that could change over night, but he indicated he just couldnt see it happening. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I talked to a newbie ASA that advised that all hiring was on hold, however on climbto350.com they are advertising for FO's w/ 600TT/100ME? What is going on?

I heard from a very senior guy they couldn't make classes but then the new guys say they are pilot heavy?

Also, ALPA has a request in for picketing Feb. 22nd at Hartsfield-Atlanta on the curbs and Hartsfield Centre if anyone is interested.

They probably just want a stack of resumes to call if needed. I doubt they're running interviews because sim time is expensive and they have no need for classes right now.

We're about 100 pilots fat now, sure, but by the summer season when the lines increase we'll be understaffed again. Then they'll try to hire 2 classes a month to catch up, but won't, and by the time they get caught up it'll be winter and we'll be 100 pilots fat again. That's the way this airline works.

Not to burst your bubble, but with the current state of ASA, and the entire regional industry, you have better career potential by taking a job selling hermit crabs at a mall kiosk.

Funny cause I thought about doing that as a back up job while on my 1st year at ASA... I thought, maybe I will be friend with the guy who sell the cell phones, so I can get a discount on mine...and with the woman who sell hotel rooms and travel, she 'll be nice to me if I offer her some hermits crabs...

By the way, do you guys at ASA get discount on your cellphones plans and hotels rooms when traveling?? A friend at AE when a bunch of 30% off in a lot of place (cellphone, Fedex, hotels, rental cars...ect)
How about ASA?

Yes, we get discounts at various places. I always tell Hotels, Car Rentals etc that I work for Delta, since most of those kind of places have no idea who ASA is. I've never had a problem. We also get discounts through ALPA.

I don't think that the hiring hold has anything to do with how many pilots ASA has on. If they are fat 100 pilots now I don't think they would have run a class mid-november. I am pretty sure that they are waiting to see what happens with the contract negotiations. All speculation, of course.

Fat/Short?

OK, so where did you get that number from? Are we in the slow season? Yes! But, the number is suspect. Let us know.

I wouldnt recommend Huessein or Hitler to work at ASA. Hell will be better for them.
