So we just now went from 6 CR7 FO vacancies to 20 in this latest projection.

Not exactly. This is the first run with the "Displacements" in it. Read yesterdays memo. Yes there will be 20 new FO's to the 70, but there will also be 13 currently sitting 70 Fo's that are going elsewhere. This is more or less a giant reshuffle. Kinda opposite of what the brain trust (CT,and SH) did last fall when they kicked people off the 70. Lots of training cycles. Every time they shag with it, the 70 list gets more senior, i.e more expensive, too. Great efficiency there boys.

why even put out the "projection" last week without the displacements? pretty much a BS document

So it's basically just the big picture when everyone's done moving around then..

It is also a lot cheaper for the company to extend everyone up to your maxes than it is to hire or recal ppl. When it finally gets more expensive to do so, is when you will see them recall.
It takes about 30K in assignments to break even on recalling one person. I bet you are getting close, but not close enough.

This post is a perfect example of why I think ACL is such a tool. Of course he has the "inside track" the "down low" the "just between us" of DAL, but apparently he thinks he knows these numbers concerning even lowly regional trash.

-What a complete toolshed.

P.S.- ACL-no one gives half a crap what you think-especially about something like this.

Hold up, there are going to be 28 and 29 lines in IAD in March and Apr when there are 30 crews?

I've been looking into IAD and talking to a few different people. Expect 22-23 lines in IAD until May, then there will be around 44-45. Also, don't expect many reserve conversion lines, maybe 1. Reserves will probably be early am and afternoon shifts, don't expect any nap reserve. IAD ain't ATL and don't expect all the "frills" ATL has (like tons of open time to swap and I'm also willing to bet there will be plenty of red arrow days up there too). Also they will try to make lines commutable but there will be a lot of 7am duty ins and 9pm duty outs due to IAD's banks of flights.

There will have to be to cover the naps. There were 2 nap lines for Feb.

All the reserves are 9am for march with 2 long calls. Remember there will only be 8 reserves until May, then prob 16-17. I'd expect naps to go away in May

9am reserves can cover naps if they duty out by 1am and have 8 hours rest before the morning duty-in,or scheduling can call them at 9am, put them to rest and place them back on reserve from 6pm to midnight.

Directly from a CA who has a line in IAD next month - every day is a red arrow day! With that, and the tough commute (apparently a LOT of people commute to IAD since it's so expensive to live there) I think I'm gonna stick in ATL

I can only imagine how challenging the learning curve will be for scheduling. I'm with you on this one. I'll let the dust settle up there and see how it looks down the road.

The first half of Feb when we're not even operating in IAD are red arrow days. I'm guessing they did that to keep us from swapping days that we have off anyway.

Daily projections

What am I missing? They seem to be passing over current cr2 captains with cr7 as a first choice, and showing junior cr2 captains going to the cr7. They are passing over captains that are NOT seat locked.

10 senior guys will get to go and the others are getting displaced off the 200 captain side to 700 captain.

I'm totally confused by all this. I wanted to go to IAD but, I've fallen too far down the list for my commuting comfort, so I'll take the displacment to the 70 I guess. I changed my bid from IAD capt back to ATL 50capt Sunday night assuming I would see myself on the 70 today for the prelim, but I was still showing IAD. Guess I have to put 70 ATL as my first choice...? What a mess. I'll probabaly end up on the BE1900 out of Grand Forks or something.....

Oh ya. If you get booted off the 50 to the 70 as a result of the reductions and had the 70 ATL as your first choice over IAD, are you seat locked for 18 or are you free to bid back to the 50 if say a new base opened up (i.e. the CLT rumor that's floating around)?

Did you have it in before early afternoon? It's been coming out at 5 but the time stamp has been earlier. You may have just been too late for today's preliminary prelim...

I still don't get why it is done that way. If the bottom 10 guys on the 200 that are getting displaced bid the 200 and WANT to stay on it, and 10 other guys senior to them have the 700 bid and WANT to go to that, why cant they just award it that way. Let the bottom guys stay where they are, and the guys that bid the 700 move over to it??? Same, same. (I'm guessing it is somehow cheaper to do it the other way)

oh yea, what is the CT rumor floating around?

Nevermind, I see you said 'sunday night'. So much for that theory...

That is exactly what I'm asking, I'm not understanding the logic.

I wish I could answer that, but you have to have a law degree to sort out the contract and figure it out. The projection yesterday was incorrect also.
