ATRdriver, what will a better contract do us if we lose our flying to SKYW? A better contract does no good if you lose the flying.

What makes you think a concessionary contract will prevent the transfer of flying you speak of?

"OK Mr. Jerry, we'll give you any thing you want, but please, please, please, please, please don't take our flying away!" :bawling:

:uzi:

And as for strike benefits, I wasn't really expecting much at all anyway so the $1400 figure was a pleasant surprise. An amount anywhere close to that would only strengthens my resolve if it comes to a strike.

$1,400 and at least I'm not a whore, scum, frightened little Mesa pilot. If those pilots, years ago, would have stopped accepting JO's p!ss poor contracts to "steal" (yes, I said it) growth away from the likes of Piedmont, Allegheny, then Air Wisc, ACA, etc.....the rest of us may not be left holding the bag. As it stands, we have to start to dig out of that hole, so if you Mesa boys are licking your chops over potentially gaining from ASA soon, well, you are bigger scum than most of us originally thought. But, I got off track. ASA may go down the tubes fighting to rectify what the likes of Mesa pilots started, but if that is my legacy I'll proudly have my kids one day read about me in Flying the Line V.

And what good will a crappy one do us if he decides to shrink us anyway? Go ask the the CMR pilots how many airplanes their pay freeze got them.

And what will a concessionary contract do Johnny? Just take a look at CMR, and how that worked out for them. As others have stated, I'd rather go out the door with my pride and self-respect than to stay here and work for WalMart wages. I'm ready to take a stand. Lose my job, so be it. Enough is enough. SKYW will hire you Johnny. They'll give you preferential hiring because you 'tried' to help ASA management's cause. Turncoat :)

VOTED IN FAVOR!

Our ALPA contract administrator even admitted that "legal council" was influencing our scope approach.
That happens when lawyers practice politics, not law.

We need our own Counsel, or perhaps to ask the Northwest Airlines Pilot to take a rest while we negotiate for ASA pilots. Like you, I don't know that our Representatives have the will to take that necessary action, but supporting them gets me closer to what I want in our contract than not supporting them.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts.

shamrock, RJ, and ATR,
Why aren't we trying to get a single list and prevent the transfer of aircraft? Your union doesn't want to answer that simple question. The only effective scope is a single list. Anything else is simply pi$$ing in the wind. Pursue a single list, and I will change my vote to a Yes vote. Otherwise we are waisting our time and our leverage.

The ASA MEC and CNC need to push for a single list. The scope they told me they are pursuing will not prevent the transfer of assets. The first 15% will not trigger anything, which will be most of the 70 seat fleet. After that they can continue to transfer assets as long as they take the pilots. That is a good deal for Jerry. Transfer the pilots from a union to a non-union property while they give up their longevity. Sorry that isn't good enough. It was obvious that ALPA national was driving the scope issue. They don't want to lose a representational vote if ASA and SKYW were to combine prior to the SKYW representational push. This is all about what is best for ALPA and not what is best for either the ASA or the SKYW pilots.
