I know who I'm voting for....

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Fellow pilots,

Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. That is why a coalition of four pilots is collectively asking for your vote. These four pilots vary widely in seniority, from #22 to #1467. Their longevity with ASA ranges from 22 years to a little over 1 year. Some have extensive prior ALPA experience and some do not. Some are commuters and some are not. One has prior experience negotiating in front of the National Mediation Board, and one has prior experience at an ALPA carrier that lost the “pay to play” game.

Despite these varying backgrounds and experience levels, they all agree on one thing. The current approach isn’t working and something must be done to reach a fair agreement while protecting our flying from being transferred. Without job security, pay and work rules become irrelevant as the jobs begin to disappear.

In an unprecedented move, these four pilots are promising to deliver a tentative agreement for the pilots to vote on within 90 days of taking office. This TA will include the following:

1. Job security including the further erosion of flying
2. Hourly pay increases for everyone plus bonuses.
3. 401k improvements.
4. Trip and duty rigs.
5. Improvements to sick leave.
6. Scheduling and QOL improvements
7. Per Diem increases
8. Commuter clause
9. Long call/short call.
10. Signing bonus

If a tentative agreement with these items is not achieved within 90 days, or if the tentative agreement is rejected by the pilot group, these four pilots will offer to resign. The pilot group will be able to decide if they want the four to remain, or if they want a change. If the pilot group wants the four to remain, they will. If the pilot group wants a change, they will tender their resignations.

You will be asked to vote for 2 captain representatives and 2 first officer representatives. This coalition asks for you to vote for all four of the following as a single group.

Lynn Jackson – Capt. Rep.
John (Barry) Lee – Capt. Rep.
David ( Bryan) Bowie – First Officer Rep.
Graham Welsh – First Officer Rep.

One question,

What is it that this new team is asking for that is different than what the current team is asking for,
except for all the things the current team is already asking for.

Exactly. And what better way to give the upper hand to management by setting an arbitrary date of 90 days when no real reason for the deadline exists.

How the hell can they promise a TA in 90 days? Oh yeah...Lynn Jackson is an ALPA/management turncoat. She plays both sides of the fence, depending on what suits her and her man servant. I am sure she has already negotiated some side deal with Charlie and Scott and is just waiting for it to be signed. Sounds like an end run around the pilot group by some shady characters. Don't buy it.

Exactly. Our current MEC is already pursuing each of these items.

I am really at a loss for what this "coalition" is attempting to do. Wasn't Lynn already on the MEC and quit to go to management? In all honesty I would have serious concerns about the future existence of our union if she took over.

What I really want to know is how they expect to achieve something in 90 days when it has taken the current CNC 4 years to get to this point. Oh wait. Lemme guess. Cut, run, surrender like the Dems? Take cuts for growth? Take the lead in the race to the bottom?

I think I'll stick with our current MEC.

If any of you have the chance to talk to Barney Rogers please do. Barney was a DFW Capt. the last contract and was on the CNC with John and Lynn. If you see him around the crew lounge ask him what happened about Pay for Training.

Most of those items listed are already achieved, such as an outstanding Section 13 Scheduling. Commuter clause is still ongoing, where the company offered two instances while the union is wanting three. Just remember, Lynn has been seen in SH and CT offices numerous times, and had BL down to their (LJ&JB) sailboat a few weekends ago. Even SH has been sighted up in the mountains at their mountain home.

See, they have all these properties to pay for and they are scared they won't have the job to pay for all their properties.

Watch out for this "team"! Ask Lynn about pay for training and how they gave up other items when those two were on the negotiating committee last time. Hard to believe that Barry is part of this.

VOTED IN FAVOR!

You can count on that. Whatever it is will be in Lynn Jackson's best interests and not the pilot group's.

Flew with and knew Barney from D/FW. Standup guy, you can take his word. Unlike the leader of the "coalition".

Vote "NO" on anything to do with Lynn Jackson. She spends time on this very board bashing ALPA and proposing we settle in our current negotiations all because she is afraid ASA will be disolved and her career as a pilot will come to an end. A TA with her, JB or any of the others invoved will be for the purpose of protecting their careers at ASA, even if it means selling us out on pay and work rules.

To paraphrase The Great Santini, "We will have the contract we deserve at ASA, or we will die trying"!

I just heard that we are down to just two people running things at ASA ALPA. Apparantly the SLC reps. are no longer in office because SLC closed. Faruzzi and Newie are the entire MEC now, and Newie is acting as the MEC Chaiman also. Way too much power for just two people - especially if one of them is Faruzzi. Time for a change.

I asked one of the people on this team that exact question. The answer I got, was that most of it has already been agreed to by management. They didn't think it would take much to get the rest and then they want to let the pilots decide for themselves. Sounds fair to me.

For many of us, protecting our careers is the most important thing. I don't think ALPA understands how important protecting our job is to many of us.

For many of us, yes. For MOST of us, no. The majority will burn the place down. While I know some people have made careers here, most of us are not planning on staying for the duration.

Guess you believe everything you hear huh ASA Drivel? Anyway, not true.

What kind of a career would/will it be if you end up without work rules protection, lousy pay, and management still moves planes over to SKYW?

OK RJMan, are the SLC MEC members still in office? I was told their are only 2 members of the MEC now. One is Faruzzi, and the other is Newunhous (sp?). What isn't true about that?

I don't think the current offer is "lousy". My career is good now. I wouldn't still be here if I thought my pay was "lousy". By the way, why are you still working for "lousy" pay? Why don't you go to work for someplace that doesn't have "lousy" pay?

Obviously what you think is not what the majority think. As for me, been here too long and only a few to go. I'm basically content with pay but want an increase as ASA keeps raising health insurance costs, and the cost of living continues to climb. You know, like those damn gas prices ASADrivel?

I can believe Barry is in on this. He thinks LJ can walk on water. I know she displaces a lot of water but she is too lazy to walk anywhere.

So if she can displace alot of water, she's not actually walking on water, but on the bottom right? lol

My, my, you're just full of piss and vinegar towards your reps. Why the personal attacks? You can hate ALPA all you want, but there's no need to attack people and not even state the reason.

Now for your question, if you spent one tenth the time actually calling the reps you hate that you spend here whining about them, you'd know.

The company closed SLC 10/1. That caused the two SLC reps to go away (duh). Newie was elected MEC chairman oh, ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO when Bob Arnold retired (duh). The MEC voted to ADD two reps for ATL making a total of 6. They will take office 3/1/07. There also plan to add an LAX council if that base is atually opened, making for 6 voting members of the MEC. So you can stop worrying about Newie and Farruzi having "too much power" for the next 4 months and running the MEC themselves... as if the two haven't had the majority vote on the MEC all along (SLC had, what 120 votes total against their combined 1500)?

Yes where all the bottom feeders congregate. But she certainly isn't the LITTLE Mermaid. Maybe a giant Mermaid?

funny you giving someone crap for making personnal attacks there penn, bout all your good for.

i have spent time talking to farruzzi - he scares me. he has about as much pride in himself and his occupation as the average janitor - but thats not fair for janitors. and newwy - it should be pronounced mrs. worth.

I'll let you in on a little secret......Newie is a die hard Republican. What a breath of fresh air! He's quality material, I've known him for many many years.

Wow. That's about the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Ever ask Newie about Mr. Worth?

Newie and I have agreed about ALPA and Mr. Woerth in the past. Off the record, he agrees with many off us who question ALPA. In fact, when RJDC started, he was a supporter "off the record". I truly believe that Newie understands the problem with ALPA.

And yet he still does his job as an elected official, despite the fact that he may, assuming you are telling the truth, have some issues with ALPA. What a radical concept!
