UPS's union flat out told their pilots to not pick up open time.

ASA's union has told its pilots (yes, I was in the room) to not pick up open time UNTIL it became 150% open time, and then have at it. This is just my opinion, but the union execs are either more concerned with lining their own pockets OR demonstrating to the company that without furloughs its going to become more expensive to fly the schedule with fewer people. If the furloughs were all back, it would probably be cheaper than offering 150% pay for these trips.

Oh yeah, watch out for the duty/trip rigs. They absolutely do not apply to these pickups, so don't complain about that, read your contract...

to offer 150% thru the summer months is nothing to running lean the entire year-- dont be fooled---- you shouldnt pick up open time at all with pilots furloughed PERIOD or shour i say !!!!!!!!!

I don't qualify for a slashing under your criteria

Good on ya, I hope your peers follow your example.

We can get language which would give the MEC the power to make picking up open time embarrassing or difficult.

It shouldn't take contractual language to embarass a pilot for picking up open time while his co-workers are out on furlough. Most of us were raised better, and our concience wouldn't allow us to be such selfish jackasses. Still, I guess the language would come in handy for the morally bankrupt few.

I'm sure you would be willing to publish the names of pilots who pick up open time.

Absolutly damn sure right I would. Don't want to be on the list? Don't be a ****************************** nozzle that picks up open time with others on furlough.

Or maybe set up an online bulletin board with pictures of their kids? Put signs in the crew lounge letting everyone know we still have furloughs?

Not a bad idea.

Rest assured, I am not at ASA, or anywhere near ATL. I prefer it north of the Mason-Dixon line, especially in the summer. I won't be the one slashing tires, running wives off roads, hitting folks with tire irons, or committing any other acts of old-school union thuggary that you can think of.
