Maybe you should put down that ice cold Kool-Aid, junior.
Now that was funny. The Kool-Aid is delicious!
By the end of the summer you'll see why I told you to drink some!
BTW, why doesn't the Union do a handshake agreement allowing reserves to pickup open-time less than 72hrs out? This would fix all kinds of shortage problems.
i think he was just kidding about tire slashing,
That is for sure. And as far as the fatigue calls they have a new trick for this, you can fly six hours on day five and if you call fatigue they will adjust your minimum monthly guarantee not the day 3.95 for not being available for a portion of the day! WTF KS will not back the pilots one bit. There has been no shortage of fatigue calls for this stuff, and it'll hit them hard this summer. There's a reason they've let KS harass fatigue callers. There will be calls to the FAA this summer, I can guarantee it. More and more FOs and CAs are at the point where they just don't care anymore.
Our MEC is too busy making sure everyone gets an obscene amount of time to figure out if they want to upgrade to captain or not and not enough time ensuring the company abides to other more important contract provisions. The MEC has been bought cheap by the company for 6 hour days.
Our recall class was combined with a recurrent class today. The FO next to me picked up a premium pay trip on his laptop as he told me how he was still paying for his Breitling.
financing a watch. Always a prudent financial move.
UPS's union flat out told their pilots to not pick up open time.
ASA's union has told its pilots (yes, I was in the room) to not pick up open time UNTIL it became 150% open time, and then have at it. This is just my opinion, but the union execs are either more concerned with lining their own pockets OR demonstrating to the company that without furloughs its going to become more expensive to fly the schedule with fewer people. If the furloughs were all back, it would probably be cheaper than offering 150% pay for these trips.
Oh yeah, watch out for the duty/trip rigs. They absolutely do not apply to these pickups, so don't complain about that, read your contract...
I don't qualify for a slashing under your criteria
We can get language which would give the MEC the power to make picking up open time embarrassing or difficult.
I'm sure you would be willing to publish the names of pilots who pick up open time.
Or maybe set up an online bulletin board with pictures of their kids? Put signs in the crew lounge letting everyone know we still have furloughs?
