I just posted this in another thread but on todays conference call it is pretty clear in my mind from Richard Andersons sheepish non response at minute 29.49 after being asked by someone in the room "why not just purchase Alaska", there is certainly something in play. Now how would a merger with alaska work as far as seniority goes?

Look to the narrowbody integration issued today. We would not get fences for ANC, SEA and LAX. Delta already has those bases.

AA, I know, thanks.
But Delta - Alaska agreement has a little different language: preferred alliance partnership.

Don't know the details, but I was told that it'll make it easier to make a case for the merger. Although with Democratic administration it probably is on hold for the next 4 years.

Unless they hurry..
