He has to step down 01/01/2011. The reps will appoint a new person for the vacancy. As far as block rep, get over it because it is done.

I am over it. I'm so numb to the $hit that goes on with ALPA and everything else, I don't lose sleep over it. Yeah, keep bending over too while you are at it! Oh wait a minute..... you are SEA. My bad.

Boxboy:

I am guessing you do worry about it as your caustic attitude shows it. I am glad I don't have to fly with you. Also, since you seem to think you know all the answers, why don't you volunteer for something? Rep? Committee? You are probably too busy to help your fellow pilots. You are right...you are bad.

Now, where is that block button.

No, I don't claim to know all of the answers. I get my info from our LEC whom I trust.
How many times have I heard this ridiculous comment: "why don't you volunteer for something?". Typical union dork response when they are cornered. I pay my dues (which is not really put into good use IMO); that's all I can do at the moment. Between a regular line, the military reserves, and taking care of my family, so yeah...... I'm too busy to help our fellow pilots. Walk a mile in my shoes before you open your cake hole!

How many pilots based in ANC? How many voted for the block rep election? Less than 1/3...that's sad. Beat your chest in protest but until some of you guys stand up and do more than complain and actually vote, this will b the only result.

Mookie

On topic.

Any word on bypass takers from the last twelve letters that went out?

There is no ability to bypass, yet. The gossip is that a side letter may come out. If you are not on a contract or military then you have no choice but to quit.

You couldn't do better than the LAX Capt Rep - But I bet RD wouldn't do it. The guy that mentioned an in house union has the right idea. ALPA is a $$$ sucking machine. Good luck to all of us!!!!

Baja.

Under block Representation, what Seattle wants will 'b' the only result regardless of what any number of people in Anchorage do.

Why would they bother to vote when there isn't any representation? It's like electing the senator from Puerto Rico. Pointless.

12 additional recalls announced for FEB/MAR 2011, for a total of 36.

New bid out 25OCT10.

Rumors of additional aircraft for 2012.

I know this is great news for 12 furloughees, but for those of us at the bottom, it is another huge letdown. I sit back and watch all of the other airlines do reasonable sized recalls to get their folks back, but Alaska is being so stingy about it.

I hear you Z, truly I do. It it my understanding that their current training staff can only handle 6 at a time.

They cut too far, and now can't change direction fast enough to capitalize on the changing environment.

The October bid will not be the last one....

I wouldn't get too down yet Z. As the last poster stated they can currently only do 6 at a time. I think there is a reason you are seeing them post openings for instructors and check airmen.

I know what you mean. You do have to look at how ALK is operated. They don't announce 20 new routes at once...one at a time. They don't buy 50 737's in a bunch, 3-4 per announcement. This is just how the company is run. Slow, steady steps. We are moving in the right direction. I know for a fact that when the decision was made to go to Hawaii, the company had 12 routes that they were going to fly. Not one or two to test the market. It was studied and they knew what they were getting into. It was released over a two year period. Even if the decision was made on high to recall all pilots, it will be released just like this. Par for the course. Hang in there!

I appreciate everyone's encouragement.

However, I must respond to Green's comment. Yes, you are correct, thats how they do business when growing, however, they had no problem letting 40 of us go at a time.

I feel your pain...I got the letter as well. The guys that are going back will do everything we can to expedite your return.
