The BOD tried to make an arguement against the petition and it was weak at best. In addition the sponsor of the petition agreed to fix the language with our president of our union, but he declined!

I truely believe our BOD think they are in the know and therefore are more educated to make an informed decision...even though our union president readily admits our company won't show them ALL the books. WE are back to status quo with the NPA just like the great decisions our past president made including his LOA's, we are in for more of the same.....unless we can vote MEMRAT in!

I don't know about you, but I don't like what our union is doing with all these LOA's, it is allowing our company to cherry pick parts of our contract that they want addressed, which in turn is giving us less and less leverage to get them to the table to negotiate, it has been 3 years enough is enough.

Here is some of the weak agruments against MEMRAT;

-Sometimes our company wants to make a deal
THAT DAY MEMRAT would prevent this, well they can still sign that day and it goes into effect immediatly for 31 days, if it is a win/win then it will be voted in by the membership if it is not (as most LOA's are) in will get voted down. SEe the company can fool 6 guys but highly unlikely to fool 1600 guy/gals. Also keep this in mind 4 of the 6 BOD members voted FOR TA-2 ro what ever it was called.

-MEMRAT doesn't represent the minority voter. We live in a democratic society welcome to the US of A, also that is how our contract will ultimately be voted in are you saying it is OK for that but not for MEMRAT......weak

-it costs to much....I mean honestly I don't even have to answer that...folks this is our QOL that is at stake here do you really want to put a price on that?

In summary your BOD doesn't think you are smart enough to vote on LOA's.....hows that make you feel?, that's what I thought, now show our BOD that you can vote and that you want your voice to be heard when it comes to making decisions that effects your life!! Support MEMRAT

PS feel free to post this on the NPA forum

I absolutely support it. Our lack of leadership is unbelievable.

I hate this industry=People are never happy anymore.

Just like the U.S.
Ummm Scarlet...this happens to be the MAJORS area. Go troll the Regionals board.

MEMRAT is an internal AirTran union issue of which you have no say in, nor understanding of.

Unfortunately, I think he works here now.

We live in a Democratically elected Representative Republic. Like the NPA. What you are proposing is Mob rule.

I am amazed that MB would pass on the offer to fix the language. I read the document the union provided which pointed out some of the problems with Memrat - as it is currently written.

The smart thing would be to fix the language so that it is something we can all live with.

I think the big concern was grievance settlement and how memrat would slow that down (as if it could be any slower). Fix the memrat language so that the BOD keeps the grievance stuff and then let us vote on it.

If the BOD passes on this opportunity to improve the memrat petition - then they are going to get what is currently written. I can't believe they are sooo confident it is not going to pass. They are wrong.

A wise leader would recognize what is happening and then work with us to get this thing right.

When we vote on TAs it is "mob rule". So why should it be different when we amend the contract.

i signed the petition and i am looking forward to voting yes on the ballot. we as pilots are tired of getting run over by both sides. memrat will pass, embrace it or perish.

Its about time we stop playing around with NPA and vote in a union with real resources!!! Alpa anyone??

USAPA! That way, even if you AGREE to something, you can cry, "I had my fingers crossed!" and request a do-over.

uh...no.

Yea having a useless crappy union like NPA is better i guess. Sorry forgot how stupid of me to think that NPA is the better then national!!! Not to mention NPA has the best lawyers, opps sorry maybe I was thinking of something else, considering we only have one lady who they hired right out of law school. But I keep forgetting about NPA's great loss of lic. or medical, oh duh I forgot we dont have that ethier. Maybe its our great leadership that keeps kicking the pilot group in the nuts. For some reason the pilot group here has bought into the concept that this union which was created originally by our own management to keep someone like ALPA out is better for us.

Right here! Yes!!

Somebody give me a ballot card de-certifying NPA and certifying ALPA and I'll sign it on the spot.

Just imagine...all of the BOD members and our worthless legal dept. gone in one fell swoop. Then we have new elections and a total top to bottom restructuring.

AAI management hates ALPA and is afraid of them. That's all the reason I need to vote "ALPA...YES!"

everybody gets to vote on MEMRAT.....all votes are equal.....not sure how that is mob rules????

I'll vote for that.

I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone, though. :)

For god sakes... do you guys ever get tired of B#tching?...... I had a great friend who used to by an airline pilot... One day we watched a UAL 747 taxi into the gate just after the great contract they recieved. He looked at me and said.... "you know what, even if I was flying that thing Id still be pissed off at the world". And then he quit.. Left the industry for greener pastures..... For god sakes. Who would ever want to be a union rep with all teh flack you guys give them... Guess what, they aren't great, but they aren't horrible either. MB is the best shot we have at a great union President. How many people does ALPA have to screw over before you guys open your eyes. Just look back 4 years after 9/11.. Look at all the bashing on FI about ALPA.. Now you guys wanna vote them in????? Pilots never learn, thats why MGT will always have the upper hand...
