I don't feel there is any way that this crash was terrorist related. I'm sure that terrorists would love us to belive that it was however. That is their whole plan, to scare us into living in total fear of them. If the U.S. government had any evidence that the American crash was an act of terrorism, why would they hide it? They would more likely use it as ammo for justification on our "war" on terrorism.

Garbage journalism.

There are lots of little details about who and where in that article but it's hopelessly un-technical.

If you want to learn about the crash investigation you need to read Aviation Week and Space Technology, CVR transcripts and a very detailed thread on Pprune with posts from American Airbus pilots.

The entire investigation has revolved around the copilot (the flying pilot) and his rudder inputs after a wake turbulence event vis-a-vis the design of the rudder control system.

Not to mention the structural integrity of the vertical fin (a composite structure) after an encounter with severe turbulence a few years prior.

This was a tragic accident that will probably be shown to be caused by several factors (as usual) that were preventable.

Which one played the proverbial straw on the camel's back will probably be debated for years after the investigation is finished.

587 was an accident. There were no explosives. The technology to detect explosives residue is so advanced now that given enough timely wreckage recovery, they can determine to probably 98% certainty whether or not it was used.

The analysis has boiled down to the FO rudder input, with AA contending that the Airbus pedal throw, pedal force, and proper lack of rudder schedule is the primary cause, Airbus, of course, blaming the FO (and AA's stupid "AAMP" course) entirely.
