That is one of the most ill-informed posts I have ever read here. You've never been in the military have you? The average RA/R/NG grunt has had plenty of MOUT training, and these kinds of operations do not, in any way, require the use of spec ops people. The average mech rifle company, regular or NG, can clear a building just fine without calling in the 10th Mountain, 2nd Ranger Battalion, or 1/10th SF.

Maybe we should be sending 5th Group to guard the airfields. You know those Air Force SPs aren't real fighters, are they?

Go to globalsecurity.org and download the 3rd Inf Div after action report (unclass). You will see that heavy armor and IFV's were vital weapon systems in the taking of Bagdad without significant casualties. Calls for better urban training and modifications but stresses the importance of ARMOR in protecting our people. Also calls for an increase in infantry, thus the Army's new "future force" plan which adds 3-4K per division over the next few years; the budget also calls for rehabbing that equipment worn out it Iraq. From the 3ID and Ist Mar Div's reports, the systems with the most impact on the battlefield were the M-1 tank and the A-10. When irregular ops occured or the Fedeyeen were encountered it came down to the grunts.
