Any AQ guys wanna tell the new guys what they can expect sitting RSV? Days off, inter-island and Trans Pacific. How much they'll use ya etc? Thanks....BTW is their contract online anyplace?

hiring plans

Any info on hiring plans towards late 2004/early 2005? Enjoyed my time at BarbersPt and Kaneohe....looking to return to the islands.

the latest new hire group was reporting 3 -700's a year until we get 20 total (2006). next bird delivered in may, following bird to arrive in june. i'll believe it when i see them pulled up to the jetway though. at any rate, if the reports are anywhere close to being accurate, that growth, coupled with attrition should spawn some new hiring for the forseeable future. as far as a copy of the contract goes, you might try http://www.airlinepilotcontracts.com. it might be there...not sure. hope this helps.

Q.O.L.

ChinaClipper,
freight dog and myself are in the exact same boat so i'm speaking for him too. we were both 1/03 new hires. got on line in the -200 late march-april 03. held lines immediately. 15-16 days off/month if memory serves me correctly. after the busy season ended, interisland flying was reduced. back on reserve we went. 14-15 days off/mo. never flew. actually had to get called in for landing currency. 1/04 moved to the -700 base. reserve last month. 15 days off... 42.5 hours of flying. this bid, yet to fly, but i have 13 days off since i forgot to submit a bid. i'm working on my tan and if i think hard enough, i might still remember how to get to the airport.

The contract is only listed on the ALPA website. You can access the contract if you are an ALPA member - don't need to be an AQ pilot to access it.

-700 Reserve

I'm on -700 reserve. I flew one 2-day trip in Jan, one 3-day trip in Feb, and have yet to fly in Mar. Awesome shcedule if you live on Oahu, not good at all if you plan to commute.

How long to a line?

I heard both the -700 and -200 is about 13 years. Correct? What are the min days off for RSV? Anything is would be great! Thanks......

Huh???

Depends.. but junior most people with 700 FO lines have close to 2 years with the company.

We have 4 year captains in the -700. See MiniMe's post about reserve schedule.

I am surprised you would leave Frontier for Aloha - both are good companies though. I bet Denver is a lot cheaper than Honolulu too. I am thinking that with Frontier's recent growth, it would be a great place to be in terms of upgrades...

Well, at least you had the opportunity to fly the Airbus - now you can make a good comparison while flying the 737NG...

Just curious how one would go about getting an application on file with Aloha? I checked out their web site and didn't see anything in relations to flying positions. Thanks for any intel.:D

Sounds like there is a pool too...

Only way I know of to get an application is to have someone take your resume in...or get it in front of our CP somehow. Pretty much need a recommendation from within though.

If you get called for an interview, I think then you get the application....sound right guys?

Also had a buddy called...he's in the pool for future classes...interviewed last week...

That's how it happened for me. PM called me and invited me the an interview about three weeks in advance. The next week I received the application in the mail with instructions to bring it to the interview.

Hey English,

Now that you are over in beautiful Hawaii, do you feel like you are on permanent vacation? Must be nice...

Who left Frontier for Aloha? I would be interested in talking with that person. I have a friend that was at Frontier for 2 years, 2 months....and upgraded into the Bus. When you get more than one or two, maybe three planes a year - now that's movement!! Frontier has a great game plan, they have a defined growth plan with set aircraft orders. Aloha's future is a big guessing game. All that is going on here is speculation.....and watching.....and helping.......other companies jump on money making destinations to and from Hawaii. I loved the quote from the big wig at ATA a few weeks ago. Something to the affect "We at ATA want to thank the great ground folks at AQ for making our inaugural flight from Seattle to HNL such a success for our airline!" What he was really saying was "Thanks AQ for helping us make money on a route that you should and could be flying yourselves, HA, then under his breath behind the podium he whispers "Suckers!!"
How Embarrassing.

Aloha is doing OK with what we have right now, but could be doing alot more!! Sitting back with that "oh, no, can't grow too fast, we'll go CH 11" attitude will only cause us to miss the boat all together.

Isn't Trump starting a new season of "The Apprentice." Maybe we could request them to come down here and see if they can take up Aloha as a little project and maybe make it grow.

Maybe we'd be lucky enough to hear Trump say the words to our management - "Aloha management, you're fired!"

Any takers on how long Zander would last on that show?
