I lived in Irving (riiiight under the approach for 35R), Arlington, and Denton in my DFW days. I have to agree that Euless isn't a bad call. Everything you need is right there, you don't have to drive to get booze like you would have to if you lived in Irving, and the drive to DFW south entrance is virtually painless. Besides...Euless has Gator's and as stated above, sh-t tons of airline people. All kinds of airline/airport employee discounts all over that area for apts.
Just like some have said, Valley Ranch/Las Colinas is where you'll shell out a little more, but the place is a bit nicer than Euless and Irving proper.
It really all depends on how close to the airport you want to be and how much you plan to spend. One way commute from downtown of either city is, on average, an hour in peak traffic (sometimes less)...
Owning a home of your own is fairly affordable in comparison to many cities if you plan to stay in DFW. For apartments, the best bet is the ApartmentGuide link listed above...I think they cover just about every semi-reputable place in the metroplex and you could kill a man with the printed version they put out every month or so.
And, when you get there, be a good North Texas resident. Slap a Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket sticker on the back window of your car, become a good P1, and go buy ya some North Texas Mean Green season tickets.
Damn I miss home...
