Just my 2 cents,
Order of difficulty regarding training programs for UPS Panels from most difficult to least difficult...
727 - DC8 - 747
By far, Id say the 747 is the most relaxed course to be in. If I were on the outside looking in waiting for a call to get a job here, Id take first available, but if you had a choice, knowing the pay scale is all the same and then your pay protected there after, Id opt for the FE panel. I know, Im crazy right. Think about it, eventually, you will upgrade and fill the right then left seat on one of our many types, Being a FE is "old school" the opportunity to be an FE is very quickly dissappearing. For me, right now it works for me, I am proud to be able to tell my kids that daddy was a Engineer on both the DC8 and the 727. Part of the history in aviaton that will soon no longer exsist. Heck, If I could, I try to get the 747 just so I could have the experience of engineering on one of the old birds, before the A/C and postion are set out to pasture. Call me old school, thats alright with me.
BBDC8
PS... Were pulling a few 727 out of the desert, expect more warm bodies to be brought on board, grats to all who get the call. Also, One of the best things that has happened to UPS Pilot Hiring is that Phil Donahue has been brought back to the HR team and thats a plus for anyone out there looking to get hired. Hes a great guy. UPS has been making alot of adjustments/additions to the Pilot HR staffing which leads me to believe there is going to be future hiring for sometime. Good luck all...
