I would like to hear checklists for preparing for an approach that you guys have. They seem to be very controversial at my school. The DE at my school demands that everyone learn HIS checklist. I'll share the one I use and the one my school uses I'd also like to hear what FlightSafety and Simcom teaches. Thanks!
The one I use: MARTHAL
M-Missed approach (Brief the missed)
A-ATIS, AWOS (get weather, set altimeter, set DG)
R-Radios (Left to right across audio panel)
T-Time (Is there a time for the missed? If so, set it in timer)
H-Heading (What is final on-course heading)
A-Altitude (What is the MDA, DH? Review other published alt's)
L-Landing Checklist (GUMPS or Whatever)
NOTE: The Radio portion is from left to right, check marker beacons, set com1 (stby and active), set com2, tune+ident+set obs, set com2, Ident DME, turn on marker beacons, set ADF is needed. This way you don;t miss a thing.
Here is the schools' checklist (which I don't like) : LOVAR DG MAN
L-Localizer (tune, ident)
O-Outer Marker (test and set marker beacons)
V-VOR (tune and ident, set obs)
A-ATIS, AWOS
R-Radios (set com1 and com2)
D-DME (set and ident)
G-GPS (set up GPS)
M-Missed (brief missed
A-Altitude (MDA, DH)
N-Name of outer marker
Like I said, I would like to see anyother acyronms that you may have! Thanks!
