Considering Instructordude is in the Military forum asking how to become a Fighter Pilot I would assume he is either someone from this website trying to generate traffic, someone just having fun, or really as clueless as he comes accross.

Seeing that "instructordude" just barely joined, and came up with the classic "Id take the job for half" I'd say it's a joke.

In case it's not, if you are willing to whore yourself to people, I hear Bangladesh has got some great opportunities for you. You can get paid pennies and they actually let you push the buttons on the phone!

Have you considered flying for Gulfstream? Their operation is designed with your kind in mind. You know, the kind who gets off to 777 cockpit posters.

A friend of mine a couple of years older than I is working there. I can't afford it and don't need anymore debt so I won't be going there but he is having a blast. This guy always shacked the chicks back in high school, he's about 6'2" 210 lbs all muscle, modeled while in HS, but my god he literally has chicks throwing themselves at him while he is in airline uniform. No kidding, married, older, younger, it doesn't matter, the chicks dig him in the uniform and will do anything to get him in the sack for a fling. He has even had a few AA Capt's wives give him there number. I was a little appaled by that one and told him to be careful. The guy might as well be a gigallo. Either way, the guy is living the dream out in Florida, so I woudn't bag on Gulfstream. He'll probably be at Continental in a year because his dad retired from there but for now he is living THE GOOD LIFE!!

Ha, ha ha, ha . . . . .you crack me up, Jimborealgoodpilot.

Next time, try to have a little more discretion at which thread to hijack, huh? The Delta situation is a big deal. Go hijacks "peak oil" or some other thread.

You're pretty good at this stuff, instructordude. I about choked on my beer when I read this one!

He could be bulling me but this guy is the real deal. What would you do if you were 25 yrs old and had women practically paying you to do them. He can't help it, it's just nature.

Prove it with actual numbers and figures that $159,000 is not much money to live on. Remember you cant use the excuse of how much training and blah blah blah you have to go through. You CHOSE to accept the Medicals every 6-12 months, PC every 6-12 months, etc. etc. That can not justify higher pay just because you have to endure hardships that are requirements of the job not of the company. Its a requirement of the government and if you don't wanna do it then dont get in the buisness. Just don't whine that you don't make enough because all you have to go through to do it. Trust me we all make sacrifices in life and most arent financially compensated.

Not even worth it. All you do is push buttons on guys on the message board. I don't have to prove anything. I fight for what I'm worth. Simple and easy.

What am I on Myspace.com or something? Instructor dude, most of us (unlike you) have had sex before. I even have two trophies for it, some may have more or some may have less - but is that what we are talking about here? They said TA not T and A.... A$$hole

Actually I have the same thing happening to me... except that I'm 44. Wait, on second thought I'm the one doing the paying. But what's the difference anyway, somebody's getting screwed and somebody's paying...

Instructordude could be a troll, or just naive. In reality, a guy could spend years getting his ratings and instructing and not understand some of the hot-button issues that are second-nature to the FI.com afflicted.

I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt that he just stepped into a hornet's nest with his comment -- that he didn't realize what he was saying.

If he's a troll, then disregard this post.
God, why do I always laugh my ass off when others don't see the trolls, but then I just walked right into this one.

Dude,

They call that STD's. Nothing to be proud of brother.

please use lube when ya flame me

Few things out of the way. I am not a pilot. I cannot spell.

I am a VP of Sales for a Fortune 100. Loyal Delta, Platinum 1.6 MM miles.
I post about once a year, turned onto the site by neighbors (live in ATL).
I am scared to say, I have an MBA from Kellog.
I generally buy my tickets 24-48 hours ahead of time through American Express Travel. I used to sit up front all the time, but 1/3 to half my flights don't have 1st anymore.

A few observations:

I would prefer that we go back to the good old days when a lot less people flew, and you were treated better. I correlate the service to what I pay for nowadays. (On a side note, I have had more captains speak to me or come and thank me for flying in the last two months than I have in the last ten years. I love it, but am curious, was it mandated by ALPA)?

With the supply of pilots being so great, and a shift in the paradiym of the industry, I believe that pilots have to take control of thier lives, and careers.

1.-Your Union has to get strong. It is not. It needs to treat all pilots equally. By doing so, you will get support from the lower tier, and you can bring much more pressure to management. Currently, management is using the devide and conquer technique, very effectivly I may add. Look at the division on this board as an example. You have the "upper class" (legacy) who ALPA activly supports, trying to maintain thier wage and scope. Y'all refuse to let the "peasants" (regionals) into your company, or cockpit. The regionals just want to have a career path to the upper class. Since they don't have one, they make out the best they can today, and HOPE for better in the future. They have no choice, many of them went to the same schools the upper class did, but have less income to pay for it. If you all became one family, you could limit the supply, and INCREASE the demand of pilots, and keep all non-active union out, and your wages would top declining, and probably start increasing again.

Think about if the ASA, Comair, and Delta pilots negotiated as one. Yes some would lose, but the power you have is much greater, and many more would win, especially in the long run. Combine that with American, Airtran, etc, where the union would all equally, regionals and majors. Don't allow another company to do your flying. If they buy someone, make them combine the books and treat everyone equally. Embrace each other. It amazes me that y'all blame each other, no one fixes it, and management continues to bend you over.

Side note: House to left of me: Delta Pilot. House to right of me ASA. Both great guys, about the same age. Both my best friends. Great families. Don't talk to each other, both out of stubborn bitterness. I don't think they have ever spoke.... SAD!

2-The goverment needs to stop subsidizing airlines. If you can't make a profit, let a few airlines go out of business. It would lower the supply of seats, drive up revenue, and margin per seat, and save the other airlines. Again, a few lose, but many more pilots win.

3-Average income: Ok, for sake of disclosure, I make too much, and am management. I am over 200k. I HATE my job, and have to deal with morons above and below me 60 hours a week. I just want to point out to all that real income for Lawyers and Doctors has declined over the last ten years. The average income is less or comparable to pilots. Overall, y'all are hanging in their statistically.

I'll go away again, but please keep thanking me for flying Delta, it makes a difference. It takes me back 20 years..... Now if we could work on the flight attendants.....

Sounds to me like you are turned on by your friend.....

Those who brag about it, usually are not getting it.

You can buy your job there too. Thats way better than half Delta pay.

I'm turned on by two things, he is an airline pilot, and he is getting poontang every day and every way!!

I know for a fact he is getting it, I've seen him in action.

Sorry for making everybody mad. I meant that 159,000 is a nice salary and that I would be happy making half that, not as a Delta guy though. I make around 16,000 now and live with my folks, half that salary sounds pretty nice. I am going to go into ROTC and try and get my hours in the military, preferably in a F-16 Fighting Falcon. Hopefully by the time I get out, the industry will have changed and I'll slide into the majors.

this kid cant be serious

O.K. so now we know you are a perv too.

By the way, what engines does your BE-90 have on it?

Time to pony up studmuffin.

And why does him being an airline pilot turn you on?

instructordude said:
What kind of engines are on a BE-400A

JT-15D-5, 2965 lbs thrust. 3 times more time in it that you have flight time.

And I dont use my uniform as jail bait.

Neither do I, of course my uniform is jeans and a teeshirt.

I've gotta log off now. Mom needs to get on the computer. I'll check later!

Everybody's got a friend who is the king of pulling it down. I grew up with a guy who could pick up any chick he wanted. Didn't even have to wear a uniform. He would go to strip clubs, and get his lap dances for free then go home with the strippers. So quit while your ahead Pottsy. I hear TV Land is running a Happy Day's marathon. If you hurry you could catch enough of Joanie to fill your spank bank for a whole month!

Your just dodging the question because you cant PROVE IT. Hell I want to make a million a year but the market sets the rates. Plain and simple. If you can prove using valid figures that $159,00/yr isnt enough to take care of your housing needs, transportation, food, kids, entertainment and retirement contributions without having any left over then ill feel sorry for you. You see I can take care of all that on my FO salary and the ladys salary and combined we make less than $100,000/year and have a nice home. Again lets see some numbers. Oh BTW toys such as boats, 2nd houses, other cars dont count. You wont show the numbers because you don't want to admit you make plenty if you make $160,000/year. You want your cake and frosting all at once. You want all that plus all the toys. Sorry we can all live with less toys.

Why do i need to prove it. If you want to make a million go out and fight for it. Get a better education, a better job or get out of the RJ rat race. Prove what? Why i think i need to make more? I don't need to prove it I just do it.

I'm glad you are getting by on what you have. I'm not happy with just getting by and I'm not going to explain it to you. That's why you RJ pilots are right where you are. You have no self worth and you know that if you complain or do something about it there is someone to actually fly between kansas city and st louis for 10k a year.

Keep dragging down the industry by not thinking your worth more. Or better yet just keep fighting with the other RJ drivers out there for that crumb.

All right, I've read all the posts on this thread and I'm in agreement with you all that are pi$$ed off at these guys saying that they'd do the job for half of 160. That's just nuts. After 30 years of putting up with garbage from management, line checks, fed rides, being away from home, and everything else, we all deserve $324/hr or whatever you guys at DAL were making...we do! But how do you do it? Please tell me. I was in the industry for 11 months before getting furloughed. I flew the Saab at XJ for $24/hr....PATHETIC!!! But what am I supposed to do? Pilots at the majors would constantly chastise me for 'taking their job'....with 34 seats?? Come On! WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO? I want your job when you retire. I want to make what we all know we deserve but how am I supposed to do that when the senior pilots at the majors don't protect that? Giving up scope and payrates??? I don't want to fly anything at a REGIONAL unless it has props and I'm dead serious. To me, regional is CLE to TOL not CLE to JAX. So all of you guys that are upset tell me how I can help. PLEASE!

I realize I'm gonna get it for the prop comment and it's unrealistic to think that but where does it stop?? 90 seaters?? Regional my A$$!

The Delta pilots had their chance to fix this problem several years ago when DAL bought ASA. The ASA pilots proposed a merged seniority list which would have prevented whipsaw, solved the scope issue and prevented hundreds of Delta furloughs down the road. It was D-ALPA's chance to save the industry. All they had to do was show a little foresight. Alas, times were good back then and no Delta pilot was about to give up seniority to a regional guy...especially when those new hire slots at Delta were being reserved for all their military buddies. Ultimately, the pilots at ASA were told to pack sand. Now the Delta pilots are paying for their lack of vision.
