No he's not, he's a troll with the purpose of pissing you guys off. So far I'd say he's doing a great job of it.

Wow, I didn't realize Delta pilots made 159,000 a year. That is some pretty serious change. What are they trying to kill the golden goose?? I take half that and be happy!

I detect future SCAB mentality.

By the way idiot, do you have any idea how long it takes to get to that wage? That is an AVERAGE, and remember that there are guys with 30 years tenure in that figure.

In addition to that. I dont care who you are, or what you make, a 50% paycut will cripple most families. Do your homework before you say something that stupid.

You would take that and be happy, and kill hundreds in return. A very low time Eastern SCAB Captain who broke the tail off a DC-9 on landing comes to mind. The fact that you could compare yourself to these veterans is offensive and disrespectful.

As an example, I have been a Corporate pilot for 18 years, and have plenty of experience. However, I would never compare myself to my fathers 30,000 hours of experience in everything from B-17/B-29 to the L-10-11.

While I would consider the Idea that the top pay might have been a little high for the Top (Before Cuts), But bottom was also to low. Executive pay was down right criminal.

Best of luck to all the Delta Pilots.

Since nimrod wants to come on this board and piss on everyone that has worked sohard to get where they are, and to then say he would whore himself out at half their pay-rate then he gets what he deserves. Add me on to the list of typical AA jerk pilot.

Instructordude is the problem of this industry, his thoughts make me want to vomit.

Dont worry all you have to say to get these guys to be your pals and to say FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GETS IT OR BUY THIS MAN A BEER IS THE FOLLOWING.

HOLD THE LINE!
YOU HAVE BALL$
STOP GRABBING YOUR ANKLES
MAJOR = GOOD REGIONAL = BAAAAD
I KISS THE FEET OF MAJOR PILOTS
I DONT WANT ANY MORE LARGE EQUIPMENT AT REGIONALS, WORKING AT A MAJOR IS ALL I EVER DREAM OF
TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM, WE SUPPORT YOU!
HOOAH LETS GO FALL ON OUR SWORDS TODAY
ITS ABOUT TIME SOMEONE HAD A SACK O NUTS AND STOOD UP FOR THEMSELVES

well you get the idea. Dont worry instructordude just start spouting off that crap and they will never hurt your feelings again

Instructordude could be a troll, or just naive. In reality, a guy could spend years getting his ratings and instructing and not understand some of the hot-button issues that are second-nature to the FI.com afflicted.

I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt that he just stepped into a hornet's nest with his comment -- that he didn't realize what he was saying.

If he's a troll, then disregard this post.

Typical total jerk Delta pilot statement. Whats the kid supposed to do, show up over at E32 and take the 777 to Dubai. Do you feel better about yourself to knock some flight instructor? If he has an 1100 student, great. He is taking the steps necessary to lead up to where you are. Major Airline Pilot God. What an ego!

Ps. He has every right to give his opinion as you and you GL buddy claim to have posting your incessant drivel on the Regional board.

The instructor's attitude is the reason why wages continue to spiral in this business. Diesel and the others have very good reason to blast him. If he will accept less, he will GET less. You basically get what you negotiate and this dude is either ignorant of the wage spiral or willing to undercut others to get a coveted job. He needs to know that wages will continue to fall if pilots allow them to.

By the way, your attitude is always super negative. Let me guess, couldn't get an interview with Delta or Air Tran years ago and now you are bitter???? Thought so.

Instructordude is a total idiot, but that's not whats got me fire up. Neal Boortz is a fricking pilot, but because of his radio show, he is much more dangerous than instructordude.

Saying crap like a Delta strike is the same as a divorce from your wife where you kill the wife after the divorce is insane.

But I can guarantee you one thing, Neal Bootz wouldn't even warm up a microphone without a contract. And if he ever left one broadcast network for another, he wouldn't give a dang what happened to the network he left, but the Delta pilots should take up the butt! I don't think so.

My wife (the Delta pilot) and myself were ready to go to the mattresses, now I'd just like to find out what they settled for. Anybody got any hard info?

And this comes from a BOY that washes Freddy B's car and cleans his pool.

I don't know if it was trolling or not.

But I am sooo tired of the "I only make $20,000 a year so I think pilots are overpaid!" argument

Wow! you make $150,000 per year? I only make 10% of that!! Oh, by the way, I am 23 and live in my parents basement and have 1100 hours in a 172. Unbelievable

We have such a sense of entitlement in the younger generation in this country. It makes me sick

Coopervane, well said, sir. You are exactly correct.
On a side note, here is the quote from the article linked in Instructorfool's original post:
"
The company says the average earnings of pilots last year who worked the full year was more than $157,000. But the pilots union has said the figure was inflated by overtime and they have projected a significant decrease in average pilot earnings for 2006."

Please, someone....anyone, point out to me where the number $159,000 came from. Instuctorfool, I hope you are able to read the FAR's more accurately than that. The Feds have even less of a sense of humor than the fellas on this board.

-Blucher:smash:

Sorry for making everybody mad. I meant that 159,000 is a nice salary and that I would be happy making half that, not as a Delta guy though. I make around 16,000 now and live with my folks, half that salary sounds pretty nice. I am going to go into ROTC and try and get my hours in the military, preferably in a F-16 Fighting Falcon. Hopefully by the time I get out, the industry will have changed and I'll slide into the majors.

If you think that is alot of dough just remember that air traffic controllers average salary is $166,000 per year. Imagine a profession where workers that provide a service to you make more than you do. Do you think doctors would allow nurses to make more? How about paralegals and attorneys????

ALPA comes through

Yes, the almighty ALPA has come through for you at Delta. Somebody had to stand up against management and tell them to stop all of this nonsense. We will be flying ALL Delta flying. We own the company, there would be NO Delta without it's glorious pilots. Protecting our Squadron buddies and our livelyhoods. My God, how can they expect you to survive on less than $150,000 per year. To hell with those regional guys. They cannot fly like us.

PAY YOUR DUES.

Then go find a blasted job that makes you half of that. Dont say that guys who worked their way up and earned that salary are killing the golden goose. They have already given back over half of what they were promised by contract.

Kind of like if Mommy and Daddy come to you and say you cant live in there house anymore.

You will also find out that when you are no longer bumming off of Mommy and Daddy, that those dollars dont go near as far as you think they do right now.

and that's why your instructing.

When you actually put in the time, sweat, and blood to get to a major you'll realize 159k is a very small amount of money.

Of course keep up the problem of bringing down the industry.

Makes me sick. Loser.

Oh by the way just because you've seen a B-90 on the ramp doesn't mean you've flown it

Diesel...why so hard on the guy??? You look more foolish with your reply......Maybe the guy just needs a little more education on the issues....Can you tell me when you had 800 hours you were the all knowledgable on the issues facing the airlines of the day???

Sorry. I know this wasn't directed at me, but I can't resist. You missed the point. I'm sure Diesel didn't have all the answers when he had 800 hours. HOWEVER: He probably had the sense to keep his mouth shut and not pretend he had the answers.

Well this thread has turned to sh#t. I was hoping to learn something about this deal, but instead I stumbled across a bunch of children fighting with each other. Real professional, guys.

Never argue with a child...which reminds me of this:
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah". The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"

The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".

Prove it with actual numbers and figures that $159,000 is not much money to live on. Remember you cant use the excuse of how much training and blah blah blah you have to go through. You CHOSE to accept the Medicals every 6-12 months, PC every 6-12 months, etc. etc. That can not justify higher pay just because you have to endure hardships that are requirements of the job not of the company. Its a requirement of the government and if you don't wanna do it then dont get in the buisness. Just don't whine that you don't make enough because all you have to go through to do it. Trust me we all make sacrifices in life and most arent financially compensated.

My my, you guys really ripped the poor kid a new one. Once he enters the 121 world, he will get a crash course on how things operate in this industry.

As far as scope relief goes, DL boys, Jetblue has set the bar to operate a 100 seat a/c. Are you willing to go down and get it? I agree that there has to be a limit to how many seats a DCI a/c should have. I would like to have a place to upgarde to after Acey, but a limited number of a/c with 76 - 80 would not hurt mainline at all.

Fly Safe...

Seeing that "instructordude" just barely joined, and came up with the classic "Id take the job for half" I'd say it's a joke.

In case it's not, if you are willing to whore yourself to people, I hear Bangladesh has got some great opportunities for you. You can get paid pennies and they actually let you push the buttons on the phone!

Have you considered flying for Gulfstream? Their operation is designed with your kind in mind. You know, the kind who gets off to 777 cockpit posters.

Instructordude: Some advice. It is far better to remain quiet and appear a fool, than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt. This will be very useful advice as your career progresses. Good luck.

Unless your a poser.

Every one of you that fell for instructorpilot's first post flamebait just made me laugh.
