Anyword on Skyway new classes?

I was poking arounf on their website and in the open job section it says First Officier open. So, that could be something. I hope I am not opening a can of worm for anyone else. Hopefully soon, I know that some people are hoping.
 
Yes a class started yesterday, 6 Beech FOs and 10 jet FOs I believe. At least thats what I can remember the person I know in class there
telling me.
 
Sorry, but who or what is Skyway, and who so they code with?
 
Does Skyway require all FO's to upgrade on the 1900 before moving to the left seat in the jet? I can imagine that it would be a very long wait for an FO to upgrade directly on the jet, but I was curious to know if Skyway has a written policy on that topic.

Also, is there still an ex-Laker at Skyway with the initials RJ? I think he might be in the training department.
 
Nope. If you can hold it, you'll get it. But in actuality, you'll be a Beech CA before a Jet CA since you're gonna want the money and the turbine PIC time, and you're likely NOT going to want to wait until you can hold the Jet to get it.

Hard to say. If I had to guess, it's pay. But to be honest, I don't know how SKX rates in pay against other regionals, if that's where folks are bailing to.

And depending upon where you live, MKE 'aint the easiest place to commute to, so that could also be a factor.

OK, Ultrarunner you have to go sit in the time out corner now because of your baseless answer and obvious ignorance to life at Skyway. The question of why everyone is leaving is because they are getting BETTER jobs than Skyway....and no, they are not making lateral moves to other regionals they are moving on to places like Midwest, Southwest and Air Tran. Our pay rates are not that of other magical regionals like Comair and Mesaba but the last time I checked, those who left for that greener grass will now be cutting that grass because they are furloughed. Don't post speculation on here, especially about Skyway. Otherwise Bob Goulet is going to pay a visit to your doorstep.

I have not heard of another new hire class in the works. Like I have been saying for months now, this is definetly the place to be. There is a Beech Captain upgrade going on as we speak with Jun 05 new hires in it. Keep on sending in your resumes.

There isn't anything written about having to upgrade into the 1900 first then the jet. It's all about seniority and the junior airplane is the 1900. Now for RJ he is back in the left seat of the 1900, and I don't think that he is in the training dept.

Yea, they came to Mesaba b/c they got furloughed from Skyway on their last day of groundschool (classy)...I know b/c there were 4 of them in my class at XJ.
 
That wasnt a low blow dude..... and yes, if they have a chance to go for an improvement...by all means do so. There was mention of furlough here and everyone bolted...the ones that stayued are upgrading or have upgraded to the left seat of the beech...hell I use my john deere rider to cut the grass.
 
I'm with 580 here. A lot of you guys thought the world was coming to an end, before any furlough notices ever were thought about getting sent out. Then Midwest started hiring, and next thing you know you could have been building turbine PIC right now. Now nobody's hiring and you're getting furloughed for real. I just don't understand how anyone can just leave a paying job for another. I say this all of the time and I'll say it again:

Those who have the best contract are the next to lose the most.

Since propsync opened his yapper I might as well open mine; At the time everyone else WAS hiring and a senior VP at MEH said that furloughs were coming. WWYD? I was in no danger of a furloughbut I left. Am I sorry I left? In some ways yes in others no. But I don't miss PS or 580 :nuts: , I only miss my cuddley TUNA!!!
