Does anyone have any new info on how EOS and MaxJet are doing? I wonder if they are actually making a profit with the prices they are charging. I have read some reviews of both from passengers, and it seems EOS is hands down the clear winner. Apparently MaxJet has some dispatch reliability issues. Something about the planes being so old.

Didn't Maxjet just suspend Dulles-Stansted service and then increase LAS-STN service?

Some of MaxJets customer rewiews are awful. Also, I think they will have a tough time turning a profit at the prices they are charging. They would need an 80%LF. out of 102 seats. EOS on the other hand only needs to 15 or so seats at there regular $3200 one way fare to break even. I would take my chances with 15 passengers paying that, then 80 passengers paying $500 one way.

I non-rev'd on MaxJet last month to STN and found the service to be absolutely exceptional. With the exception of the personal escort and lounge, MaxJet had all the ammenities featured on the EOS video. If I had the choice between paying $600 for a service that might be a hair below EOS for 1/5 of the price, it would be a no-brainer. I think MaxJet's strategy is to tap a wider market.

Although only time will tell whether their stategy works (or anyone's...), I for one will forever be a fan of their high-quality(and reasonably-priced) service.

Get off the "Majors" board, I never even heard of these freaking outfits!!

I agree crash but that horse got through the gate a long time ago. As for Maxjet I hope they can hang in there as well. I jumpseated with them and EOS twice last year and they were great.

I do like that MaxJet is offereing fares of $699.
That's what every airline should be starting fares at!

Ditto. I think the business model is excellent, they just need to advertise more. No one knows who they are or that there's even a product like that.

If I had the choice between:

A.) Riding in economy coach 7-9 hours each way to Europe for $500 bucks.
B.) Riding in First Class luxury for $3,000
C.) Riding in Business Class with enough space not to feel like a sardine for $500 bucks.

I'll take C every single time (especially since I vowed NEVER, EVER to sit coach class out of the Continguous U.S. (except for the Bahamas, etc) EVER again).

Has anyone looked to see if they show up on Expedia, Travelocity, or Priceline searches?

p.s. A MaxJet Flight Attendant jumpseated on us down to Palm Beach today. Mid-20's hottie, GREAT uniform, almost a mini-skirt, tailored jacket, VERY 60's-esque kind of thing. Like what Flight Attendants USED to look like.
:D

I was taxiing out of JFK behind Maxjet not to long ago. Thay had to go back to the gate because they couldn't get an engine to start!

Not Good.

Same thing happened to us last month. Turns out to be a bad EEC.

Does that mean we're in trouble, too? ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist. Mechanicals happen all the time to everyone.

Wasn't he right behind an E190 that had to return to the gate?

No, the E190's were all grounded for a week do to a three hour snowstorm!

At least Maxjet could return to the gate!

Maxjet recently purchased two more 767's from Air Mauritius which brings their total to 5. Number 4 enters service around Middle of May and Number 5 the first week of June. The late spring/summer schedule is shaping up to be daily service from JFK-STN, 4x weekly IAD-STN, 4x weekly, LAS-STN and 4x weekly from one of the following cities to STN: SJC, SFO, LAX, BOS, MCO, TPA, or MIA. The city pair is still TBD. One aircraft will be kept as a spare and used on on charter opportunities which MAXjet is seeing high demand for.
