Mtnjam,
If you can deal with the no pay durring training. I hate to tell you this but your going to half to stand behind all the Gulfstream guys that are interviewing next week. 60 guys with all but a couple getting hired. I hope you got a good laptop for all that hot reserve you'll be doing. And get ready for all the 1900 stories in training.

9e no longer has ready reserve since september of course that could change because the company hates us

That sucks with those gulfstream guys getting hired. **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**, i hope my seniority doesnt good pushed back any further. I interviewed a week ago and was offered the job and now i am just sitting and waiting. Does anyone know when the next ground school will be and if they will hire those pfters first and then the rest of us.

hey sir humpalot you better check you attitude before starting class at pinnacle. most of the their upper seniority pilots who did not come from gulfstream, pft'd, as did many other pilots at many other airlines. your going to have a tough life there by trashing pfters. not to mention gulfstream guys account for a third of the seniority list there. meaning those gulfstream pfters are going to be your captains.

I am not bashing pfters (that has been done by many before), i am just saying that it sucks to be us due to the fact that a buddy at Gulfstream told me that they are starting a ground school next week and are planning on having all the pfters on there.

Relax people, dont get uptight. I was just posting that it sucks to wait.

Great, more 400 hour wonders going into the right seat. I'm sure those guy/gals are a big help when the crap hits the fan and the Captain gets busy.

I am not defending the gulfstream people but I was just offered a non-pilot position in the training department with Pinnacle and the other training planner said that the Gulfstream people have a better pass rate than off the street hires when it comes to new hire training.

Here we go again, not even a page's worth, and we're back to the bashing mode... I forgot, what are we bashing again? ALPA, PFT or Mesa or just life in general.. Chill out.

What I am about to say should not be taken the wrong way but when I started training at 9e i hated the fact these wonder boys and girls were above me in seniority because daddy wrote a big check. I still don't like that but that is just a matter of my raising that I had to work for what I wanted. I will say in defense of the streamers they all know they are at an EXTREME disadvantage going into learning a new jet with only 400 hours or in some cases more, under their belts and they don't want to make daddy sad so they work their a$$es off. They are the biggest studying nerds I have ever seen and I mean that in a respectable way. When I was in sim all the streamers who were in the 2 classes behind us would sit up at FS fighting who gets to ride in the sim sessions. Sometimes they would sit all day and finally catch a ride in a LOFT at 2200 probably learning next to nothing but hey they tried. While out of the 9 streamers in my class 3 of them failed their checkride, they all passed on the second attempt and are doing just fine (except for the impossible commute from FL). But most importantly the reason they made it through was not their extensive 1900 experience it was their eager and determined attitude which I can relate to. You can make of this what you want to.

Gulf

Gee, I think every Regional should hire all these 400hr. wonder pilots from Gulfstream....................Yeah............. However it is a shame that somebody with 300hrs. Multi and 1500tt. gets put behind those kick ass 400hr. super pilots. Oh well, such as life.

g-girl, you made an asssss of yourself by posting a response to a question that wasnt even asked. Now, go study.
Actually, I think G-Girl hit the nail on the head.

Flagshipper has a good point, if you have questions, read it again.

Lequip, the difference between a 600 hour Streamer with 300 hours in the 1900 and a 2000 hour CFI with 1000 hours of right seat sitting and no turbine time is, in my experience, minimal. Both contribute about the same amount of help to the flight deck, according to their skills and enthusiasm, that is to say that once they get a few months in the aircraft, there are good and bad, just like the guys in the left seat.

The only new-hires we get that would really help "when the sh*t hits the fan" are the ones like I flew with two days ago that came out of the Lear charter world with 1000+ hours in the right seat of a Lear and the situational awareness, high altitude and navigation experience, and overall flying skills that go with it. Unfortunately, we don't get many of those...

We have been hiring GIA people for 2 1/2 years now.. at this point in time what difference does it make?

Some GIA are Captains now, and in a few more months maybe a few more. As Flagshipper stated.. the difference is attitude. As Lear70 stated there is little difference between a GIA and a pilot with 2000TT but maybe 3-500 in a light twin or maybe some time in a King air or similar.

If you don't like the environment your going to be training/working in, you may as well stay home and give your seat to someone who wants it. There are plenty of people still looking for jobs, there are plenty we turn down too.

For the record, In 2 1/2 years we only had 1 (one) class that was all GIA, and that was about 2 1/2 years ago. Hearing or believing that YOUR getting screwed because your name was not called first is not helping your cause. Calm down, sit tight and you will get to the schoolhouse soon enough.

Classes are done every 2 weeks.. 24-26 in a class. Most classes THIS year average 10-14 GIA and the rest are off the street. The "high" for this year was 18 GIA in the same class size, the low I think I heard was 6. There are 2 classes in NOV and I think the last class for the year is Dec 13 (I think) then Jan 3 is the next (again I think that is what I read).

BTW.. regardless.. Sir Humpalot.. your going to be SEN# 1000+, if you go in Dec then you will be closer to 1100 out of 1300 total pilots.. A long way down the list... it really does not matter at this point. A year or more ago, the difference would be critical in days off and possibly upgrade. Now it will be between reserve, 10 or 11 days off at best.
