Anyone know if you can hold a first class medical while taking medication (synthroid) for Hypo-thyroid? I can't see any reason why not as the disorder is so easily controllable but I have no idea what the FAA thinks. Thanks...

May I suggest you ask a qualified Aero Medical Examiner??

I have had it since 93', as long as it's regulated it's no problem for a 1st Class. You just need proof that you've been checked prior to your medical. Call your AME before you go and see what documentation if any you need to bring.

No problem

Don't worry about it. Have been taking synthroid for the last 15 years with a first class medical. If you go to a new FAA doctor for the first time he might ask for a recent TSH test but other than that it is a no biggie. And I'm even taking the largest dose they have a pill for (300mg/daily)

I have been on synthroid for a little over a year. The FAA put me on a special issuance first class medical for the first year. I don't think that you will have any trouble. Good luck, if you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.
Best of Luck,
