Thinking about applying to a fractional. I am not an idle person and am wondering about the 7-7 schedule. I am thinking that after a couple of days to get caught up after I get home I will be bored. Does anyone have a partime job? What is it? I am thinking like ramp or scheduling part time. Will any fracs let you work a part time job or do they frown on that? What about any part time flying jobs? I am looking into CAP. Any thoughts appreciated
Thanks

Two days to recover, two days to mentally get ready for the next 7 on, leaves 3 clear and free days by my reckoning, lol. (Not complaining though, and love 7n7 compared to the more typical 4 on, 2 off, 5 on, 3 off cr*p of a typical low to mid seniority lineholder at an airline). I think you have to get permission to work a flying job which basically means not exceeding the FAA limits for commercial flying, which would be very hard to do in most fleets anyway. I don't recall any restrictions on working another job other than no conflict of interest or competition with the company, as agreed to in the paperwork you sign as a new hire.

CFD 130 really isnt the flamebait type.
Sounds to me like he is just looking for something to occupy his days off. And maybe get some flight benes working for an airline.
Good questions CFD I was considering some of the things you asked

Most flight schools are screaming for help, ground, flight, sims work

I was thinking about some type of airline work not only to occupy my time but maybe get some flight benefits, Although the CFI thing sounds good too Thanks
PS Thanks RCA for the kind words

You may want to look into contract flying. My company allows part 91 flying outside of work, and I'm able to get $500 a day for some of the contract flying I do. Opportunities are there for a type rated pilot.

Find something OUTSIDE of aviation to diversify your earning capability. Too many pilots only know how to fly an airplane. Most are lucky, but some lose their medical, and some get furloughed/fired and may go months or years without employement. Diversify your ability to earn money, period.

Part Time job = Make sure the wife is happy! If you really need to occupy your time, maybe there's a 141 school nearby where you could offer to be a check instructor. That way you don't have to worry about full time students, but can still have steady work.

On the app from NJ, it says you begin on the Reserve Schedule and aren't even eligible for the 7/7 until the next first full quarter after completion of training. For what its worth, if I get hired, I'd rather be on the Reserve Schedule until I'm making decent cashflow. You still know your schedule for the month which is a whole lot more than what I've got right now. Which is nothing with any semblance of schedule.
