Anyone think the airline industry would work if......IF........if (hear me out)

All pilots, private through ATP are regulated by the FAA, right?

Would it work if ALL pilots were EMPLOYED by the DOT? Say, like a federal judge is employed by the DOJ. These pilots are hired by the airline of their choice, but are still paid as a government employee and recieve a government retirement, say like a federal judge or any other employee of the government.

Would this take enough pressure off of airline pention plans to help the airlines succeed?

There has to be a better way than the what it is now. Any thoughts?

Have you ever heard of a concept called CAPITALISM???????

Yo Sly, slip me some of that shat, mans gots ta hit it, ya know!

They tried that, it was called communism. It didn't work out so well. You are probably too young to rememmber the wall in Berlin, Nuclear War, Ronald Reagan, etc.

Well actually, that's kind of how the Merchant Marine industry works - so I think we can get it to work for us. For example, there could be a huge ready room kind of place at each airport and when there's a need to fill a position they could make a big announcement i.e. " Now here this, we need a B-737 F/O for a 3 day trip to Omaha worth 7.5 pay hours" and then anybody who wants the trip and is qualified can sprint for the plane and the first one that gets there get's the trip. They could also get rid of that pesky Age 60 rule too since the guys that are old, fat, and out of shape would not be flying very often which results in insufficient income to support 3 ex wives thus forcing him into a job as a real estate agent (which of course is the natural progression anyway).

I for one think it just might work. Let's petition ALPA as well as our Congressman!!!
