Guys, my friends and I have been racking our
brains to figure out just what type of plane
we saw the other day on GMD ramp at LZU.

The airplane was a pressurized cabin class
twin - very long - about the same height as
a King Air 200. It was a turboprop airplane
that slightly resembled a Piper Cheyenne.
This airplane had a very long nose and
a low horizontal stabalizer. (not t-tail)

I looked all over for an ID plate or something
but couldnt find anything.

This airplane did however have either
Rockwell or Grumman badges on it. Very
cool looking airplane - just wondering -
cant find anything or have any ideas as
to what that thing was.

Can anybody help us out?

This is a blatant thread theft, audible, Statue of Liberty play...whatever you want to call it, but when I saw your header, I thought you were talking about this story. Does anyone know what that was?

Mother Nature was just blowing smoke rings.... she's a stoner, you know...;)

sounds like either a Merlin 2 or 3.

most likley a 2 because alot of people have never seen one. The 3 just looks like a stubby metro.

However, could be the 3 due to the kingair heigth.

Not Turboprop, but sounds like what you are describing:
Rockwell Commander 700-
Commander 700's are about the best looking light twin for sure, but the plane in question sounds like the San Antonio Sewer Pipe (Metro).

Hey Crash,

Is that the new B-747 Shorts in your Avitar? Trying to get in on the RJ market against my Airbus.

Maybe it's an Antonov AN-3?

I had some professional pilots trying to tell me the other day that they thought a plane on the ramp was a Convair turboprop. THE DING DONGS...IT WAS A G-I.

Maybe it was a new kit plane belonging to one of the EAA guys there. But seriously, do you or your friends know of any jobs at LZU? Or for that matter PDK, FTY, or RYY?? Thanks.
