Lots of big Tobacco companies are based there, so cheaper smokes for the kids, and lots of choices. Dipping is popular too, even with girls....

Bye Bye--General Lee

Not a bad place, except when the Klan and the Commies start shooting at each other in the streets.... In all fairness, that was 25 years ago...

It's kind of an industrial town with a lot denim manufacturing. High Point is nicer, and Winston-Salem is really nice. W-S reminds me of a much smaller Charlotte with all the good and very little of the bad. They're all right there together, so you could live anywhere. I went to college in Winston-Salem, and have often considered moving back.

My wife lived in Winston-Salem for a while and we both loved it there. Much nicer than Greensboro and only about 30 mins from GSO airport.

I am based in ATL and commute to GSO.. I dont do it by choice, but this is where my woman got her job. I could think of a million places that I would rather live, but it is not that bad considering the circumstances.. The landscape is very beautiful, there is alot of history with the civil war and the american revoulution, many parks. I live very close to the airport, and there are many convienences as far as stores, movie theaters, etc. It is a medium size city with the feel of a small town.

UNCG has some hot liberal b!tches walking around too.. LOL

If you move here I highly recommend Lincoln Green Apartments.. Use me as a reference I will split the referal with you ($200). A one bedroom apartment is 585/month.. includes water and sewer, and they are very pet friendly.

www.lincolngreen.com

There are 11 flights between ATL and GSO daily.. AWSOME for commuting.

Overall I would give it an 8 on a scale of 1-10

I'ved lived here for all my 16 years, not much, but do know a fair bit about the city. If you need to know anything in particular just pm me.

Lincoln Green is nice, my step sister lived there and have known plenty of peopel that had nothing but good things to say about it. Pretty good location too. Right off battleground which will get you close to about everything.

Overall, it's a pretty good city. Fairly large(225kish), although there's not too much here. It's not the best entertainment city. There is a large number of malls and shopping centers and movie theaters, etc though.

Winston sucks.

NAked car wash

HArpers II, but you have to brown bag it to watch so 40 yr old woman with 3 teeth wash your car topless, or so I hear, lol. Moonpies, Texas Pete, Krispy Kreme, and a whole lot of nothing. Go for Winston; I lived there and as everyone else has said, its much nicer and only 30 min away.

There is a naked car wash near the airport.

We used to get the Holiday Inn van driver to swing through there.... The Holiday INN seemed to always have the cleanest van!

GSO is a great place to live. Four hours from the beach, two hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains, friendly folks as long as you don't have an uppity-@ssed yankee attitude (you get back what you put out :)), the best BBQ on the east coast, good-looking women (and guys if that's your thing), much more liberal than the 70s when all the trouble happened (see previous post), relatively inexpensive to live ... a great place all in all.

Greensboro used to be the butt of many jokes when I was growing up and going to college in Raleigh, but GSO has had a pretty good influx of non-natives, as well, and has pretty much shed it's small-mindedness as all the various cultures mingle.

You can still find some rednecks, but h@ll ... the meanest, most racist white folks I ever met were in Cleveland, so you'll have that kind of thing anywhere once and a while. :)

Since you're senior to me (I think), it's a complete sh!thole and if I were you I'd stay in Cincitucky at all costs!

Seriously, though, cost of living is about the same as northern Kentucky. Winter is much milder (snow of any measurable amount closes school). It's about a 3 hour drive to the beach and a 2 hour drive to the mountains. Carolina girls are hot! People are very friendly and laid back. There are some pretty good bars and hangouts downtown, but if you're into a hot and heavy "urban" club scene, you'll be disappointed. Overall, very nice place to call home.

Terrible place; definitely wouldn't bid it:)
Just kidding, I will be bidding GSO since I live in CLT and commute. I figure driving an hour and a half each way per trip beats commuting. I just hope the trips they build there have some variety and are not just LGA, JFK, BOS shuttles, ugh.

I'm based here with CHQ. We live in Kernersville. Its about 10 miles west of the airport. Its right in the middle of Winston salem, Greensboro, and High Point. NOTHING to do as far as nightlife in K-ville, but if your a family guy or whatever, the schools are good and you can avoid most city crap. Everything you need on a dialy basis is in Kernersville (by this I am referring to Wal-Mart of course), so I only go to the city for special occations (buying porn etc.) I know the topless car wash sucks, but try SouthSide Johnny's for some really nasty all-nude action strip club! A bit of advise-- drink (heavily) before hand b/c they don't sell booze. And you don't want to be sober here. Sorry for the rambling.

You can pm me if you have any questions. I live about 40 min west of GSO and have been here all my life. I don't mind Comair come in but the parking lot is full so find someplace else to park! TSA uses 75% of it and they get to the airport before the pilots. So guess where we park?
